Project Daily Drifter (56k... probably not)

I wasn't sure if you were going to cool the oil before filtering it :p That mount is one of the cheaper ones, Summit's line of products made to mimic a perma-cool. 1/2" NPT at top. Don't cheap out for the 3/8" one and tap it larger, waste of time and risk of splitting the casting. I had to...

Haha NOPE I haven't played with the supra since April 09, tore it down august, stripped for paint through may '10, and now at the end of my rebuild its set up for OEM smog ablity. Drove it only 4 times last year doh! Today I'm putting the gauge panel in, bleeding clutch and brakes, add fluid...

    engine question

Signs of a bad exhaust gasket is excessive heat, loss of power if its turbo, jet white coloring on the exhaust mani from boosted exhaust leaking out or black sooty deposits if no boost. As for the sounds a bad exhaust gasket makes, it varies from buzzing, brief whooshing, loose spark plug...

Electic short? Where do I start hunting this one down?

The door light switches are really ground points that make contact when the door opens. If they were bad, the courtesy lights, ignition ring, map light wouldn't come on. The outside door handle switch (when you pull on it the interior lights up, even if locked) will also activate them...

    New 7M Install

For sure, I've seen 88 mounts and the steel plate that mounts to the block and understand about the bolts... and didn't know the 89+ subframe couldn't utilize them, bummer. I'm sure someone local can get them to you fast. I have spare 89 mounts although one has a busted rubber so thats only 75%...

Kenny, Your build looks great. Van noticed he too is having break-up during load on dyno runs. He looked at the CPS and though its rusted, the air gap and pick-up coils are in spec. He plans on pulling the CPS today to remove the rust, but cannot proceed without your recommendation on what...

    engine question

Your getting a deal on a Supra because of the valve? Have you heard it run? A BHG'd Supra sounds crappy too lol If you get the car, pull the head, replace the head gasket, strip the head of everything but the valve train and let the machine shop replace the bad valve and valve seat if its just a...

    New 7M Install

Nice work so far. Are the Pre89 engine mounts (square) incompatible with the 89+ subframe? If they work together, save the money for something else. Pre89+ mounts are stronger, and sit the engine a tad lower (~1/2") Also, are you going to recirculate the HKS BOV? Not recircing will contribute to...

Electic short? Where do I start hunting this one down?

Those plugs for the door sensors are a PITA. Get a jewelers flat head screwdriver and shove it under the hook portion of the connector where the plug tab is hanging up on, in the direction the plug is inserted into the female. The sun doesn't hit that plug (normally lol) so it should take the...

Filter reloctation: Filter mount location measurements, approx. -from bottom of wheel well divider plate to filter contact surface on filter mount, 3 and 7/8 inches -from frame rail out to inner edge of filter mount, 2 and 1/2 inches You can see in the top picture that the Purolator filter...

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

ECU location. Ground for Shaeff's Knock sensor rewire kit still needs to be mounted (where'd that 10mm nut run off too???) The entertainment wiring mess. 4ch patch cable for amp, 2ch patch cable to the same amp (it's 5ch amp), Aux input patch cable, blue is remote amp turn on line, and the...

Progress!! Nice work, I haven't pulled any subframes entirely, so congrats on the effort! The Permacool filter mount, I'll take a pic and measurements of my passenger side mount. I've got a big spin on filter for perspective :) The End is Near! lol

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

Large connector behind gauge cluster, had to relocate some pins in order to use the old connector, and the turbo indicator plug had to get switch over. The pins didn't fit the newer connector so i soldered it and heatshrink after: Additional plugs by kick panel to be switched to newer year...

^^^ You nailed it why I like a bigger turbo: safely laying down the power in a way that you get it when you really want it, not sneaking up on you if you slip the clutch too much getting into second lol

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

More harness connectors to change, the big one behind the combination meter aka gauge cluster has an addition wire plus the violet has a red stripe where the older voilet is just violet. Thats 4 plugs to change to use the new dash, not hard just annoying that I have to break and study up...

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

Busy weekend. Friday was picking up Suprastroker88's supra from the Santa Cruz area. Hwy 9 is nice if your in the area. Want some twisties, do Big Basin or Chinaman Grade for a route so tight you have to slow to sub- "scenic route" pace. Friday night was helping my GF move and set up her new...
