Only update I have is that the -8AN oil line from the pump to block that I bought from DriftMotion is fouling on my oil pan. I've hammered part of the pan to clearance it and the pan still fouls. The bolt holes on the pan don't line up with the threaded spots on the block. Looks like I'm going to be using the stock line.

When I get to building a GTE block I'll be using ARZ's oil feed line. It looks like a great piece, and from all the photos I've seen, won't foul on the pan.

yeah I hear that. I'll likely be using the space behind the grill that sits between the bumper and nose panel to fit my stock oil cooler and use it as a power steering cooler. it fits perfectly in there

Just need to know if you cut the lines, and if so, where? And how did you route the hose? lol

Did some sanding/stripping, priming, and painting today on the p/s pump brace and of all of the parts of the stock engine damper

Also ran into a wall on my oil system. I bought an inline filter, as can be seen in the above quoted picture. It is about 6 inches long, and with the fittings mounted to it I have no idea where I can mount it. I was thinking on the underside of the upper radiator support, but I have no way of securing it.

At this point, I need to make a decision. Do I find some way to mount the filter and run it, or do I go without it? If I go without, do I save it for some other project or do I sell it?

I am again having fitment issues. This time with my oil filter relocation mount. I have the Canton Racing billet mount, with dual in dual out ports on opposite sides of the mount. I have NO idea where to mount it.

Now I either have to find a place for it or buy a Perma-Cool unit with single in/out on the top to cut down on space constraints...

NEED HELP >_<

The canton filter cartridge, If I purchased one, I was thinking it'd go on the front of the slant for the shock tower, but that depends on the turbo intake.
My remote oil filter for standard filters is on the other side of the panel of the windshield squirter fluid reservoir, maybe your filter can install there with a couple 90*s.
There's a lot of space behind the passenger foglight below the bumper crash support, of course depending on your intercooler routing.

I have the stock charge piping through there, as well as my intake filter and pipe. I think I might just buy a Perma-Cool 1211. It has 1/2NPT in/out on top. one in, one out. seems like it would be pretty compact. And it's only like 20 bucks + tax

any chance of getting an adapter with -10 instead of npt?
of course it should be from the same manufacturer as the rest of your fittings (ie Earl with Earl, Russel and Russel etc)
Spin filters are easier to get, and have a built in back flow preventer.
the big plus of inline filters is the incredible flow rate

yeah the mount I'm talking about is a spin on filter. I have a Canton Racing inline filter if I chose to use that. I wanted originally to use the inline filter AND a spin on filter... kind of anally retentive, but whatever.

Sunday I got the front sub-frame reinstalled, Monday I torqued all of the nuts and bolts and reinstalled the engine. I'm currently waiting on my springs to get back from the powdercoater so that I can reassemble my suspension and install it. I am also trying to find somewhere local to buy a Perma-Cool filter mount, part number 1211 (3/4-16 thread, 1/2"NPT I/O on top) or pn# 1711 (3/4-16 thread, 1/2"NPT I/O facing right). Part depends on amount of space under my driver side headlight.

After that, I need to buy more fittings, cut more hose, and assemble everything. Depending on parts I should hopefully be ready to prime the oil system in about a month.

Progress!! Nice work, I haven't pulled any subframes entirely, so congrats on the effort!

The Permacool filter mount, I'll take a pic and measurements of my passenger side mount.
I've got a big spin on filter for perspective :)

The End is Near!

Filter reloctation:

Filter mount location measurements, approx.
-from bottom of wheel well divider plate to filter contact surface on filter mount, 3 and 7/8 inches
-from frame rail out to inner edge of filter mount, 2 and 1/2 inches

You can see in the top picture that the Purolator filter currently mounted is very tall, about the same size as the K&N HP 3001 at the bottom left. It hangs below the fender plate lol
Filter diameter isn't a worry with the mount either. The Purolator and K&N are about a fat a filter as to be found. At nearly 4" diameter, the mount clears them from the plate with about 1/4" clearance.

Ideally, oil lines should be short as possible for least resistance. More resistance is going to put additional stress on the pump. Using bigger fittings reduces the strain.
It makes sense to have the filter as first thing from the block, and so the passenger location is ideal in my setup.
Convenience is tough to come by but can be done ;)

Very nice, Dave. What filter mount are you using?

And I had meant to say passenger side in my above post. I have my filter under the headlight as you do, and the I/C piping routed like stock as well

I wasn't sure if you were going to cool the oil before filtering it :p

That mount is one of the cheaper ones, Summit's line of products made to mimic a perma-cool. 1/2" NPT at top.
Don't cheap out for the 3/8" one and tap it larger, waste of time and risk of splitting the casting.

I had to use a close nipple and coupler to raise one -10 90* high enough to clear the other fitting next to it for install.
It's cheaper to run NPT-AN 45* and 90* adapters than have straights with angled -AN hose fittings.

Someday when I go FFIM I'll have to move the filter forward onto the rail and run the IC pipe behind and up through the (to be enlarged) hole by the head light.

Wow haven't updated in a while.

I figured that since every shop I've gone to locally is being a pain about getting filter mounts, I've decided to just use my Canton inline filter as the primary filter. A friend (who is also a mechanical engineer, engine builder, etc) told me about his previous boss at another engine building shop running a Canton inline on one of his race cars for 4 seasons (~10 races/season) for road racing, so I'm positive that this filter will be fine for at least 6000 miles if not more.

Mounting will be easy too, just need to buy the brackets from Canton
