The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

Yesterday's News: I stopped by the machine shop and spoke with the block guy. Basically the plan is to polish the crank and replace the bearings. He likes Kings, knowing they're a middle hardness bearing compared to the harder ACLs and softer OEM. He recently built a blown BBC that did 10.2s on...

Any news about the oil now that winter has pretty much arrived?

    BigZavs T56 swap/Finishing my 1.5JZ project

BOOO! I've installed my long block, fooled with cam timing, scored some bearings and pulled the block, and half way to having my block back, and your priorities are where???? JK, M.O.B. is priority But seriously, once the car is done it'll no longer be that eye sore your putting off.

    Project Clean 87

Congrats on making things operate once more! I must be mistaken, but you polished the crank snout with 800 grit sand paper another .005" for the hub to fit?

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

Dub, Zummtizzle is great to do business with, and I hope his build is going well (did I let that outta the bag???) His open-mindedness and generosity is unique. And yes, another meet missed due to priorities. Honestly, I MUST have my car done in the next few weeks, I might have a new job that...

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

Zummtizzle, I'll look at my oiling system for space saving benefits. That mocal already has the edge on having -10 male fittings, eliminating that many more points of joint leakage. I'm seriously considering it. Thank you for the offer, -Dave ps I just ordered a NEW oil pump to throw at the...

    New 7M Install

Yes use the existing head with fairly new toyota valves. You sand blasted??? Thorough cleaning like bore brush the oil passages is pretty important here, no amount of air is going to dislodge the residual dust.

    Race Ready 7M

That is great news. You know, I've had my eye on this build since last year right??? I'm glad your plan is panning out, road racing is very attractive. I'm running something similar to a jt70 (notrice.com) that was very impressive for wastegate boost to redline. Throttle response actually...

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

^^^ lol I set the cam timing, started her up for the 5th time, fiddled with the loose cps while shooting the crank with a timing gun, and when I was happy I blipped the throttle cam. Stood back as the tap tap tap of RK began and then the cartoon effect of a character slide-stopping, it was over...

Project Daily Drifter (56k... probably not)

Will you share how you're going to place your inline filter? It sounds like you've got things set lol

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

Been a couple days, started turning it over in my head. Called the machine shop, they wanna do the autopsy themselves, as if a bearing shell were wrong/backwards or something. It still bothers me that the engine ran several minutes (5-10 total) on assembly lube and still didn't pull oil. I...

    What are these meant for??

AFAIK, they are test ports for the hvac system ---------- Post added at 04:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:43 PM ---------- check the diag box under the hood for 2 non oem wires going to it, stuck into the terminals. they dont belong. follow the leads into the passenger compartment...

The "Hurry Up and Wait" build

I bet I got the oil lines to the filter backwards. Either way I'll be pulling this engine soon and making it ready for the machine shop, cleaning out any bearing debris. Short of finish line, and I was all amped up this was drivable, very disappointing. Anyways, I've got a side job I'm going...

I didn't disassemble the dampener before hand and don't want to open that can of worms in-car. There just isn't working room in the car like that lol

Thanks for the low-down of your successful break in, dub. Grim, my fascination is more about v8s in general. I greatly dislike 90% of the v6s because they usually sound like garbage, its a hack v8, and I6 is better. But a v8 is 2 inline 4s set at 90* sharing the same crank. the result is a...

    Project Clean 87

Its possible to find emery cloth TAPE and do it by hand with shoe-shiner-like motion. That'd help keep the smoothing action even. I'll vouch that JB weld can hold up to some crazy tasks: A brass feed port on a chainsaw carburetor busted off the nylon plate that gets sandwiched between the...

lolz which ever one your telling me is on the 20th. I must be really outta the loop lately... I was gonna go drive the supra legally tonight but after crawling around under a house for work 8hrs, I'd rather shower and sleep and commence giving in to my mania tomorrow ;) I'd really like to see...
