How many 7M that have been rebuilt fail later on due to BHG or Rod Knock? I can think of quite a few. Well built ones, too. On the contrary, how often do you hear of a 1J that hasn't been rebuilt failing? Only one I know of was Joe's, and even he admitted that he was at fault.
There's an arguement to be made for both sides, so I'm not starting a debate. Just remember to check your oil before you crank your 7M, you might be sorry if you don't. :biglaugh:
Just because you dont see post on the net i guess that means that things never happen. How many post do u see with 2 JZ's failing? I guess those motors never do.
HAAHAHA think again .... Most of the people who are dealing with those motors have a bit of mechanical knowledge and an understanding of power vs. reliability and not mention DEEPER pockets.
And from what I have seen they simply try to balance as much as possible. I believe NickM says this "the weakest link of the 7m is the owner" which most ...
NOT ALL happen to be people who shop like this ..... hmm what will give me more power for the cheapest price? So they forget about everything except being fast and then when sh*t breaks they jump on the forums posting how bad the motor is and whatever ........
i am fan off all the motors however my expierence is solely based off the 7m and i can say that the 7m is very strong motor with just a stock head gasket tq'ed to 75lbs. I beat on her all day every day with a stock ct26 boosting 14psi and she has held up very LONG for the abuse it lay on her.
There is saying choose two out of the 3 fast, reliable or cheap. Honestly if you are asking which motor you should pick you need to stick with the 7m it’s the most cost efficient off all the 3. If you build it with forged internals and will have a sick fast, very reliable, and in the car world CHEAP 12 second car. I hope that helps!
