OK, I have just read all 13 pages of this thread..........and here's my .01 worth (probably not even worth .02). There is a lost variable that has not been directly mentioned. You can't just swap the motor! There are gonna be many more issues to deal with making a different motor mate up with your car. These will all add to the cost. I admit, I am one of those "never layed eyes on a 1J" guys. I will probably stay 7M for the simple reason I am not in an endless HP spiral, and will be happy with 350WHP or less (I think). Hopefully I will at least get to see some 1J's as I plan to start making it to some of the bigger meets.

Ideal..........wouldn't the 50HP and 4-5lbs of boost be solved by simply adding a BIC DDP. And, is the stock 1J 280HP at the crank or wheels?

As for Bigaaron...........If you people want a 1J, and don't have the confidence to do it yourself........take your car to Bigaaron

Reading this entire thread made me realize:

A: I need to get a life!

B: A lot of people talk out their ass.

C: All these motors are good.

D: If you think you cant hurt your motor, your not trying hard enough!

E: I hate money and love to piss it away.

F: When I have more money to piss away, I will build a JZ car, and I will still love my 7M.

"MrSupra: Looking forward to following your progress with 650 in a build thread maybe?"

Yeah, its just a matter of time and money and money. I'm thinking about tracking down a J-spec 7M and then sending to a very good shop in baltimore to rebuild it with eagle rods and J/E pistons. I will probably send the head away to get ported. I'm probably also going to try out those Briancrower 264 cams..... But first I have to sell the GTO

You know topics like this would be better if people who have done 2JZ swaps with single turbos would actually give detail on what it costs and what power the car made. Or what the cost of big power build ups for a 7M or 1JZ would be. Theres to much talking and a lot less representing. Lets start representing.

MrSupra: understood fully on the $$$ issue! ;)

I stopped counting a long time ago and have gotten to the point that I will spend what it takes to finish the job!

Part of why I pushed for a rebuild section was to have detailed builds going on so people could see and understand what it takes to actually build a car rather than hand it to a shop with a wheelbarrow of $$$ then collect it when it was done!
