Thx everyone for their input. Really helpful.

By Wiisass
Changing offset does effect a lot of other things though. It will affect your track width, spring/shock/bar installation ratios, scrub radius, roll center heights, and a bunch of other things.

Scrub radius is the thing that most people will complain about, but they normally don't really know what scrub radius means. The only effect that you will really feel from increasing scrub radius with a lower offset wheel will be under hard braking on rough roads, there will be more kickback force felt at the steering wheel due to the larger moment arm for the longitudinal force at the contact patch. Other than that, it doesn't effect too much unless you greatly increase it and I mean by a lot.

The rest, 99% of people won't notice or feel. And the changes are relatively small.
Anyway, for the wheels, lower offset is cooler, just know it will take a little work to fit big tires. But that work is worth it for how much better the car will look.
Something to think about... I was thinking of upgrading suspension anyways, since car is getting older and older. Ill see what I can do, seems like a little sacrifice here and there.
If I would consider going this route,What tire would you recommend frnt and back? Something that would look nice with the offset. Big tires in back is a plus, but im willing to sacrifice if possible. Thx alot. :bigthumb:

I'm gonna be putting on a new set of wheels. My car is dropped about 1.5 in the rear. I was thinking about running 275/40 or even 285/40 series. The rears are 17x9 with +35 offset. Will i have issues. I don't want to roll my fenders.

Hey, I saw your tread with the question but not until after it was locked. You gonna be cutting it very close in the rear and definitly have issues in the front while steering if you hit any dips or bumbs unless the car is very stiff.

The FN01R-C on my car are 17X8 with a 43ET and a 245-45-17 tire in the front and lowered 1.5" and the fender lip had cut the tires plus I could hear it happening while cornering and hitting dips in the road it had hit a couple of times that it bent the lip out. Now a bit of the problem with mine is that my the brake rotor hat flange thickness is about 2mm thicker then the stock rotor thus pushing the wheel out by that 2mm which would be like having a stock rotor with a 41et wheel. In my case, 45 or 46 ET would have been better but 5Z doesn't offer it with either of those ET's... In the back, I had 17X9's with 43ET also and 275-40-17 tire and as the suspension compressed, the tire cleared the lip by about 1/8" (3mm)..... You having 35 ET wheels is going to push the wheel out by 8mm then what mine was which leaves roughly 5MM interference with the lip for the same tire size, wider and that interference will increase. One way around this issue is to run more static camber in the rear, but if you dont need it, this is a bandaid fix with its own set of problems... Oh, I was running -.75deg in the rear and -1.0deg in the front.

My seguestion for FN01R-C's from experiance with them on a supra is 43ET all the way around. Althoug 35ET in the rear with a bit more camber should be fine unless you wanted to run a 285 tire in the back, in which case, I would definitly go with the 43ET.

Hope this helps....

What's the front wheel specs? 17x9 +35 with a 275/40 in the rear will fit fine with no problems, thats the same specs on my rears and Im running h&r springs with no issues at all. 285 tire is pointless to run since you will have the same contact patch as a 275 and the sidewall will be a bit too bulgy.

Thanks,
Josh

I'm concerned about clearing the suspension.

I've tried 11" +24, it is already close to the suspension. 11"+45 may hit. Let us know when you try it on.

Does any know what the offset on these momo's are? I've looked in their website and found some like it but these are 8.5 in the front and 10.5 in the rear. I checked their fitment list and saw none like it.

I want to make sure they will clear my stock suspension and later on, when I lower it. Flaring and rolling the fenders aren't a big deal but if it doesn't clear the suspension it will be. If I can spacer/or adapter fit it, it won't be such a big deal but I want to know what I'm facing before I pick these up. They're 19's in case anyone is wondering.
