18x9.5", w/ a 43mm offset is pretty good. You could run a 285/30, or maybe even a 295/35 on there w/o any problems. The 18x8 with a 43mm offset, will however, look a little "sucked in". The ideal offset for an 8" rim is about 30mm. I would get a good set of 10mm H&R hubcentric spacers, and run a 245/35-18 tire on it. Should be just about right.:icon_bigg

cool. thanks..

i'm lookin at two sets of wheels.

these

^ Either set would look good.:icon_bigg Although the 35mm offset would be better for the front fitment. Personally, I prefer the top set. Bottom set looks like BBS LM's (kinda'!):icon_razz
However, if you are considering a bbk in the future, the BBS lookalikes might be a better choice. I might have just changed my mind too, on which one's look better!:biglaugh:

the bottoms are Manary Vertec VR5 wheels

the pretty ones are Speed Star Racing Velbret Lo's

both the same price

would it be stupid to use the spacers on each of the +43 ?

No, it wouldn't be stupid. It kinda' depends on what look you are after. If you wanted a more aggressive offset, then you could step down your tire size, and still make them clear the fenderlip. Or, you could roll the fenders, space them 10-15mm, and run a larger tire for a totally mean look! I had 18x9.5", with a 35mm, and 275/35's, with no rubbing issues. But, that was as far as I could go on offset, (and tire size) w/o a fender roll.

I personally ran an 8" wheel, +42 offset with a 225 and it looked sucked in. I am currently running an 8" +25 and it fits PERFECTLY. I would recommend this offset to anyone but anywhere from 25-30 would look great.

IMO, go with the top rims and run the 10mm spacer on the front(any more and you need extended studs). I doubt you would need the spacer on the rear but you can decide after.

18*8.5 +22 offset 245/40 F+R

this is the first time the car has been on the ground on the new suspension, and it hasn't driven yet, so i'm not sure if its gonna rub anything. it looks to have plenty of space. sorry for the pic quality, i need a new camera

I just caught this thread... There are some nice wheels up here. Im running
19x8.5f/19x10r... 235-35-19/265-30-19. No rolling of the fenders, no camber adjustment or anything. These are 1997 Rays Sebring Edition rims...

I was looking through this thread, and i noticed a lot of 17" wheel guys are running side wall of 45 in the front, and 40 in the back. What does this achieve, does it get you some stretch or?

Nope. It keeps the over all tire height close to stock. The side wall size is based on the % of the the sidewall #. so a 225/45/17 means that the side wall is 45% of the 225.

Oh makes sense.. Should I get 40's too like you guys if my rear tires are going to be 245/../17?

Doesn't matter. But 40 will keep your speedo close to accurate, which is why we usually get close to stock stock tire height.

I just picked up a set of four 3-spoke volk c-ultra's 17x9 +22 all around. I'm currently sitting at the stock 4x4 height, but will be lowering the car in a couple months and using it for auto x and road course almost entirely. Putting down close to 500RWHP once it's tuned. I prefer the squared off look over the stretched look. Performance is my main concern.

I was thinking 255/40/17-all around or 245/40/17(F) and 255/40/17(R) based on some info from another member with similar wheel size and offset.

Does that sound right for the intended use?
Will I have any issues with rubbing if lowered between 1-1.5 inches?

Thanks

I have 255/40/17 on 17x9 +35 and I have the same intentions with my supra as you do. I also just lowered my car about 1.5"/1" [F/R]. In my book, the side-wall is perfect. Leaves enough side-wall incase you hit a bump or whatever. This tiresize is also only a few more millimeters larger than stock and my speedo is gonna be off by like .7%. I'll send ya some pics of my setup lowered if you're interested. LMK
