Is that the motor from the other thrad that made me cry? :D:D:D WOW!

Oh, and PM me the hook up on that gauge cover, I need one bad... PLEASE!

Yep, it's the same motor. It's bored .020 over with new pistons and one of the cylinders had to be sleeved. It also has a Titan MS metal headgasket.

PM is being sent.

Ok, so I got my engine home::w00t::
p797289_1.jpg

Then, all by myself, I assembled my engine stand and lifted the engine out of my truck and attached it to the stand. I was proud of myself since this was my first time.
p797289_2.jpg

I then placed the old engine on the cradle Christian gave me so now it's up off the floor. Sorry no pic.

Anyway, it's home after five months!!!!!!

Finally................Some motivation for you!

Looking good!

Ken, sleeved? Can they do that to our motors?

Apparently so. They guy who built my engine wouldn't do me wrong. His whole reputation is Supras. It cost an additional $80.00 to sleeve that one cylinder. It had a very small crack. If I didn't do that, I'd probably still be looking for a block. This motor is not going to be receiving massive boost so I'm not worried about it.

Thanks man. Since the motor was pretty much disassembled when I bought the blue car, I've got boxes of crap laying all around my garage. I'm not sure I'll have everything I need to finish it up yet, so yeah, I might need some stuff.

I just went to napa auto parts and showed them the old crusty hose and said it was for the oil cooler.. they hooked me up with like 5ft of the proper hose. it was like $10 or something like that.

Well I was finally able to piddle with the engine today and I must say I'm so happy I could just shit! I put the heat shields on, the coilpack and wires. Also put new spark plugs in. I used Royal Purple degreaser to clean off the intake and coil pack cover and that stuff works great. If you notice I have the engine secured to the stand and also have the chain still attached to the lift. I'm so worried about it collapsing.
Here are some pics

Now I've got to figure this stuff out. Also, I have to get a throttle body for an automatic. The one that's on there is for a manual, so no lever for the kickdown cable to attach to.

And may I add PlastX FTMFW. It made my taillights look new.

Well I accomplished a little more today. I installed the fuel rail, fuel injectors and lower intake. I then fed the wiring harness around the motor and plugged in a bunch of things. When I get that other throttle body then I'll bolt up the plenum. I need to get some vacuum lines, clamps and some more small water lines. I have to go to the mother in laws house now for dinner ( ugh :( ). I'll try to put a pic of the latest later. I have to work the next two days which sucks. That's all I need to get the motor ready to drop in. It'll be next week sometime. Then it'll be time to tear the dirty white boy down.

Ok, some of what I did today. The plenum is just sitting there for looks. I haven't cleaned it or changed out the throttle body yet.

Turbo side. Notice my ghetto splicing for the O2 sensor.

Here's my donor engine. RIP. I really have no idea what, if anything, is wrong with it. Just part of the block is broke off where the tranny bolts on.

get that FRAM oil filter offa there before we beat yah...

go to the dealer for the turbo coolant lines, the parts stores only have fuel line in that size and it will dry and crack in under a month...

So much to do on it still, I've been there a few times now...

Whoa whoa whoa!! Before you pull out the stick and beat me (giggidy) that Fram filter is only on there to plug a hole. Besides, I found it in the blue car brand new so didn't actually pay for it. Thanks for the advice on the coolant lines. I was wondering about those.

Lookin good Ken! It's gonna piss me off if yours runs first.

Well since I still need to pull the diff off of the blue car before I can move it out of the way, you should have yours running by then, maybe. I still have a lot to do so don't get pissy yet.:icon_razz

mk3runner thanks. Yes it is finally getting there.

Well a little update, but no pics tonight, sorry.

I took my throttle body to Dallas thinking I was going to swap mine for one that is set up for an automatic, but, Christian only had about 20 JDM throttle bodies and no USDM like he thought he had. So, Christian did a little ghetto fabrication and installed the kick down pulley on the throttle levers. Anyway, after getting it home and putting it all back to together, I'll need to do just a little bit more ghetto fabbing, but it should work.

So I'm finally ready to put the plenum on. I managed to feed water and vacuum lines where they need to go. I then put it on and realize I've lost the bolts and was lucky enough to find two nuts to put on the end studs. So I must find some bolts, but hey! It's on there and it's looking like an engine ready to install.

I'll edit with some pics tomorrow cause I'm tired now and don't feel like doing it.

Yeah yeah yeah! My wife is on a cruise with her sister so been busy being Mr. Mom today.

So first pic is of the ghetto fabbed auto kickdown lever. It needs a little fab since that throttle arm is rubbing it.
p807846_1.jpg

Second, got the egr put on. Just got to figure out which hose goes where.
p807846_2.jpg

Third, got the 3000 pipe mounted on. One of the screw holes for that vacuum tube is stripped out :(
p807846_3.jpg

Fourth, I've lost the bolts for the plenum so need to find some that fit. Tomorrow while the kids are in school, I will try to finish up the vacuum lines and vsv's that go under there. My goal for the end of the week is to have all the vacuum lines sorted out and have brackets mounted for alt, ps, and a/c.
