I never understand people like this. I have heard people talk about "I live in a small town, everyone knows each other. We don't lock the front door or car doors and leave the keys in the visor."

It may be a sign of living in a nice place, with upstanding [read: not criminal] citizens, but why do they brag about inviting this kind of chance? Seems a touch ignorant and naive.

True, but i wonder if Kai was exaggerating to express the safety he felt in his community. I'm sure he's aware of the possibility of a passer-by helping himself to any number of unlocked goods.

"round here, everyone and their mums is packing."

Criminals are opportunists. If they see a chance to commit the crime they will. But if they know they stand a good chance of getting caught or shot they will behave themselves.

As for a shotgun for home protection I would use bird-shot. It won't go thru walls but it will tear someone a new asshole. My home security system is my insomniac self with a Taurus PT 24/7 Pro 40 cal with hydra-shocks JHP. I want the big hole to be in my target not the wall behind them.

Ours is similar.

Me with a Taurus PT-945 firing .45 ACP with 230 Grain Speer Gold Dot JHP's.

Theresa with a Beretta Cheetah firing .380 ACP with 90 Grain Speer Gold Dot JHP's.

That plus two Akita's. :)

Woe to the idiot who walks into our house uninvited...

No exaggeration at all - its 100% true.

I'm aware there are such things as criminals here, but honestly, the only crims you have to deal with out here are the gyppo's who come round in a transit van. I have a driveway with thick oak gates at the entrance, they would have to get past those and drive a diesel van into my courtyard without me noticing in order to stand a chance of nicking anything.

I'm looking to buy a pistol to carry when I get my tax return back. I was looking at either the SIG Sauer SP2022 or a Walther P99, both in 9mm. I already mailed all the info for my carry permit I'm just waiting to get it in now. I was just curious if any of you guys know anything about either of these guns.
