Happy Easter guys.. the car runs. It has a pretty nice idle, but it stalls after like 15-30 seconds. It's predictable. It seems like everything is great, and then it just stalls. I'm just glad it will run :).

VICTORY! lol
Set the timing by setting the timing to "fixed" on the Stinger, then use a timing light to set it to 10 degrees by adjusting the cps like you would on a stock ecu, then change it back to 10 deg btdc in the software. What does the afr look like, rich or lean?

I'm not seeing "fixed", you're talking about under "Trim's" on the tuning screen, right? I see "locked" under the "static timing" drop down menu.

It's only a little bit lean with the 45% cold crank enrichment, but this is running my 2JZGE with the 7M wiring.. so probably dead on for a 7M :)

Add a few percent with the "Fuel Trim Percentage" and then click "Re-Adajust Map", that will richen up the whole map, and get you close to the right mixture quickly. Cold crank is only meant to do something like a cold start injector does. Use the fuel trim to get the mixture in the ballpark. Then go eat some chocolate.

LOL! Thanks Aaron, I was thinking the same thing! (about the trim and the chocolate). I'll report back later.. girlfriend duties call.

I added 60% fuel across the board and finally it idles great :) Thanks for all the help Aaron, as of now I have no more problems!

I do have a question tho, I noticed the Stinger has an input that i assume could be used for nitrous, and you can add fuel to the map. Is there any way that I can use my methanol setup with this, and say subtract 20% fuel across the board with a meth input trigger?

hmm.. okay now I have a problem. No power, I went to start the car and there was no power to the stinger. I figured I blew a fuse.. so I checked the fuses and none were blown. I was thinking maybe the EFI fuse.. but no, its not.

I know the stinger is wired into the BATT pin of the wiring harness.. but where is there a fuse for that? I don't get it.

I just got another car running with a Stinger today!

The first 1jz with a 7m ignitor? I think maybe it is.

I modified a 7m harness with the correct connectors for a 1jz, followed my 7m wiring diagram for most of the wiring at the ecu connectors, and hardwired the Stinger harness to the 7m harness. We put it on the car and it started up on the first try! The only thing I had wrong was the #1 and #2 coilpack was mixed up. Swapped the pins in the connector and it was running just fine!

So basically with this method, you can get a 1jz engine with a cut harness, use your 7m harness without having to modify any of the body connectors or lengthen the harness, and you can use the 7m ignitor with the Summit coils and 8mm Summit wires which costs about $120 for 3 coils and the set of wires. It did take some time to modify the 7m harness, but it was easier then making a harness from scratch or lengthening a 1jz harness.

Unplug the Stinger harness, and check for 12v on the red wire with the ignition on. If you have voltage there then check the ground connections. When you say it doesn't power up, do you mean you can't read from the ecu with the laptop? Also make sure to jumper all the shield and ground wires in the engine harness together, because with the Stinger all the grounds need to be made common because you don't have the stock ecu plugged in anymore.

Okay, I checked and the stinger is getting 12V's and a good ground. I can read from the ECU. Sorry, I thought the Stinger wasn't getting any power.

Basically, the problem is the EFI relay must not be turning on with the ignition switch. the engine cranks but the fuel pump won't even turn on, and the EFI fuse isn't blown.

Edit: it was the ignition fuse in junction box 1. doh.

I just wanted to follow up a little bit and say that I love the user interface of the Stinger. I was having a really hard time trying to tune the stinger for part throttle. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get my AFR's where I wanted them to be. I made sure that closed loop mode was off, and a few other little features that would keep me from getting where I needed to get. I Started tuning and started to see little changes.. but it still didn't feel quite like the stock ECU.

Finally I just started to play with everything.. I decided to turn off acceleration enrichment.. just like like that the car ran great. Felt like it didn't need anymore tuning (AFR's showed I needed some minor changes), but the car finally felt like it was cruising on the stock ECU again.

I just wanted to say that I'm really happy with it, and I can't wait to tune for some boost.

PS: Aaron, can I get you to PM me the calibration file for a GM ITA sensor, I assume its the same as the MSD ITA you use? Is that the one that was included with the 7M map?

Bump for an update. :D

BTW, I just did my Pre-89 PnP Stinger harness tonight, was pretty fun actually. :naughty:

See attached pictures.
