Well, dropped my girl's block and heads off at TPiS for machining and picked up my LS6 shortblock today. Below are a couple pics. Just a couple more items and I will have the complete engine. BTW if anyone knows of someone parting out a 98+ f-body or knows of any LS1 Tremec T56 for sale, talk to me about.

The rebuild will be stock. Not sure on the turbos at this time. Yeah, if you could talk to your roomate about getting the transmission out of that car that would be great. I am looking for a flywheel and clutch also if his are good. Shit actually there is a few things i'd like to snag off of it. Let me know if he's willing to part it out and we'll work on prices.

Looking good, SySt!
But wait a sec... a 4G63 is down? the world must have stopped turning..... lol

I'm with Allan, though. My car is the same deal, minus paint... I'm sorry, I just like nice paint! :icon_razz
I have no a/c, and I will have no heater system whatsoever until I deem it necessary. That's probably 5 times of me going: "damn, I wish I had a heater system in here..."
With that said, numerous new factory bolts and powdercoated pieces will adorn the chassis. It is going to be my Fair Weather car, but who's to say you won't be stuck in the rain?
IMO it's much easier to be safe than sorry in this situation...

Except that the 3000GT doesnt come with a 4G63... it comes with a 6G72

I was going to go with the bat-wing corvette oil pan but it will not clear the subframe. And it's not a small amount, i'd have to get about 3 more inches of clearance to use it. I do have the pan and may not sell it, so if I ever feel adventurous again I can make my own subframe thats lighter and maybe a different mounting location for the upper control arm and also to clear the pan ;). Probably better to just get a dry sump system going though.

lol yeah. with that amount of custom work, you may as well do a dry-sump. Plus, dry sump is way cooler-er than a custom subframe any day.

Finally, an update. I just sent out $800 for a T56 transmission. When it comes I will put some pics up. I still need a bellhousing and shifter before I can fabricate the mounts for the engine and tranny. Oh well, I am definitly making progress.

No, you're right. It would be better to have two camshafts and a long crankshaft with half the displacement ;). Or in my case, four cams... that need to be re-timed after pulling the heads...

Anyhow, here is my most recent work. I got a new engine in it, the LSE. LS-Emy. Also note there is no longer ANYTHING in the engine bay.

Thats a very nice engine upgrade! Can I have one for my car? :)

Just received my Tremec T56 transmission today. Below are some pics. Also, do any of you know the length of an R154 or W58 with the bellhousing on?

I come from a land down under
If no one jumps in before then I'll measure my 58 when I go out to the shed.

Main area of "PITAness" on the 56 swap is the extension housing back between the seats!
(from memory it's 20mm wider than the tunnel)

The T56 is about 32" end to end... I am not going to try and mount engine forward any to make up fo the difference... I guess we'll see how far off the shifter is when I try to mount it up. I will likely use some rod ends and effectively relocate the shifter off the transmission.
