Your welcome there Rufus. Anything to keep some of these old pos on the road.

Yeah, thanks to taco. Where ever he may be. This thread really did help me a lot. After my 1jz fiasco I didn't want to work on my sups anymore. Then David kinda gave me a jump start. Now I'm in the garage just about every day. I hope to start a build thread pretty soon. Maybe if everything goes right I can have my car on the road by August. darrell is starting to get the ball rolling on his. So maybe by the fall we van have a supra meet with supra. Anybody heard from the other guys?

I'll hit you up David. Thanks.

You know, I wondering the same thing. The one that got this thread started is MIA. I wonder how he's doing.
I found out that neither one of my knock sensors are grounded. Of course I wouldn't have know any better because I've never seen them hooked up properly. Now that I've been doing a little research I see that the have to be connected. I'm going to get to that hopefully tomorrow morning. Was going to do it today, but it's my Bday (37) and we were busy. I think I'm going to take off the upper plenum to gain access to the wires. It looks easier that way. The other way I've heard is removing the alternator & starter and working from the bottom. I'm too old to keep working from underneath. I'll just do it from up top. We'll see how that goes.
Hell, I might get in the garage and have at it tonight. I'll just have to wait for "go time".

Happy bday rufus.

It was go time last night for me. I was in there till 4 in the morning. I thought I was in trouble when devon came looking for me. I made a lot of progress. Question will I be able to get power to the radio with out a engine harness and ecu? Power would come in from the dash harness right?

I don't know. I can unplug my ECU harness and turn on the radio and see if it'll work. But that wouldn't be until I get back home from work. I've gotta get ready to go soon.

This morning I took off my upper intake manifold to rewire my Knock sensors. That's done. Now I have to put the manfold back on. I think I found my small coolant leak. The hose going from the wrap around hard pipe to the IAC vavle didn't have a clamp on the hard pipe outlet. I'll put one on when I get it back together. Probably do that either tonight, or tomorrow morning.

It worked. I installed one of those scion radios, and just wanted to see if it worked.
I pretty much finished the swap of the interior. Just need to install a couple of speakers and put the rear seats in. Then I'm gonna turn my attention to cleaning up the engine bay.

Damn. Looks good.
I put my manifold back on this morning. Everything is plugged in and clamped down. Right now I have to go my sons school for their fiesta party, so I can't start it up right now. Rewiring those knock sensors should clear up that CEL I was getting. Now I have to work on why my MAP ECU isn't getting an RPM signal. I'm not getting a CEL of a bad ignitor, or no RPM signal so I'm a little stumped.
I need to get my dang laptop back and put a new hard drive in it. My mother in law though she'd be nice and do that for me and take it to her computer fix it tech guy at work. I already knew what it needed and was going to do it myself, but she insisted she'd take care of it. My wife told me she wanted to do that for me for my birthday, so I guess so. It's been almost a month now, and she just left the country for Panama to visit for a couple of weeks. So I really can't do much until she gets back and I get my laptop back.

I was going to ask my neighbor if I can borrow his, but I don't like the idea of putting someone else computer at risk for my own personal gain. If he were to get really bad virus two weeks from now who do you think he'd blame. I don't want to go through that. So I'll just wait. I guess I'll replace this clutch slave cylinder until then.

BTW with all this excitement going on with my car running and all, I forgot about your starter. I'll try to reach Darrell and get it to him by this weekend. Thanks again.

Rufus, I don't know how powerful of a processor is needed to run whatever software you have but I have a little netbook I'd let you borrow for the weekend if you want, it should work well enough. Even if I did get a virus two weeks later you using it, one, I would know it wasn't you, and two, I can clean just about any virus off of a computer anyway

David, I know there is a site out there that explains how to make one yourself really well with a couple bucks in parts from radio shack. You only need a few wires, resistors, capacitors, diodes. It comes out to under $20 if I remember. HKS, Greddy, etc. just charge for the name. I'll try to find the site.

I started the car up. It idles. No CEL codes so far. I'm assuming the MAP ECU still isn't getting an rpm signal cause it still wants to die when you touch the throttle. It runs as if the AFM is unplugged. It doesn't give me a CEL though.

Travis I just might take you up on that offer. Does it happen to have a serial port?

I'll let you know by tomorrow evening. I'll PM you.

David I wish I still had my FCD. I sold that thing long ago.

Nah sorry no serial port. These netbooks don't really come with much, not even a cd/dvd drive. Just 3 usb ports, vga port, headphones and an sd reader. Altex might have a usb to serial adapter but I've heard they aren't very reliable at all.

Oh and David, I was gonna say.. I considered throwing an fcd on mine since I hit fuel cut like crazy but the horror stories of people leaning out and ending up with holes in their blocks scared me lol. I decided to suck it up and wait until I can get the fuel system, electronics, and tune I need to run more boost.

When I first start the car I have to throttle it a little to keep it from dying. It idles pretty low right now. Everytime it stumbles you can hear a knock sound. That's just my upper intercooler pipe knocking on the strut tower. I can't wait to fix my MAP ECU problem. I thougth about hooking up the stock AFM to see if it runs right. But that means I'd have fab up an intake pipe. You know... I just might have some old rusty 3" pipe laying around that I can use to do that. Just something I can temporarily mock up. I'll see.

Sounds good Rufus.

Thanks. It's that awesome hand crafted and welded to perfection downpipe that gives it that deep tone. Oh, and the custom bottom falling out of the muffler too. I'll get a shot of that next vid.

Oh and the loud hissing sound is that IAC vavle with that little filter on it. That thing is loud. Normally it would be hooked up to the intake pipe, but I don't have one right now.

BTW, PM me Darrell's number please. I have to call him to get your starter out to him.
