PTE 550's, the new Venoms?

Interesting thing, I bought a lipp afm/pte 550 combo from Suprasport a little over 2 yrs ago and low and behold I got a package drop shipped from darkside racing (or something like that)with no flow sheet and 1 o-ring. I think i talked to Jeff (it was march/april 2005) and he said he'd contact the supplier about the o-rings. Darkside racing was based in the same town in pennsylvania as the mysterious ebay company that was selling PTE injectors for like $300. So, I wonder if SupraSport was taking me for a ride?

ForcedTorque's set looks exactly like my set did when I got it.....I had no trouble but since I just lost #1 with my new boss 550 at about 16 psi we'll get to see how the cylinder lost compression....ring or hole....of course both could be from a bad injector. I think I'm gonna have mine checked as well.

You know how we have a sticky on the Venom injectors? Well, it may be about time for a sticky on ebay injectors (of any brand, with a link to this thread) ;).

Don't blame e-bay, non-flow tested delphi's can be purchased anywhere, not just on e-bay. It is our own fault these type of things exist. If we as purchasers would only buy injectors that have been flow matched and tested, then problems like this would never exist. In true mk3 form, we always look for the cheap way out. By doing this, we create those guys on e-bay who sell us un-tested injectors. Venom injectors used to be all over e-bay as well. As long as we all stop buying these injetors from this type of seller, they will just go away on their own.

Cheap injectors would probably be fine in a stock NA motor that isn't driven too hard but it's insanity to use them in a Turbo motor where 1 lean run will ruin your entire day.....

Probably the very last place to try and save money in a build as the potential for disaster is so damn high :(

I'm sorry, but didn't the sales page mention something on flow sheets? Wouldn't that hint at the injectors already being flow tested?

It's kind of like venom injectors, they are advertised as drop in injectors (big plus for the person who doesn't want to mess with wiring), but it's well known now due to others misfortunes that they flow like shit. Just like the injectors sold as PTE, RC, whatever, through vendors (doesn't have to be just on ebay) who are not licensed vendors of said company. When the injectors come in, no flow sheet as advertised. Hmmm, see why I think there should be some warning on injectors sold as a brand name when they obviously aren't (confirmed through authorized sellers of said product, such as dbsupra90)?

Yep, big problem on e-bay is brand name violations. They have rules about the use of brand names in your title or ad when the product is not, but is hardly ever enforced. There is just too many things for them to monitor. One way around the rule is that they will say "not" then list several key word brand names for the search engine to find. Another is "style". Such as HKS style" BOV. I know these guys advertize the injectors as flow tested, and they could even make up a fake flow chart, or even send a copy of one good chart to everyone. This just means that we need to be more careful and only purchase for reputation and not for price. Like you said, authorized dealer, or from precision themselves. Precision sells a bunch of their own stuff on e-bay

I think I figured out the venom injectors. This maybe old news though, but I got them to work great. I had a serious problem with them bogging down my car when I had the 7m in it. I took them out a soaked them in solevent. All kinds of sediment came out and it took about three cleanings and now they are fine. My buddy is using them right now in his 7m and has no problems.

Why would you buy precision injectors not from precision?

:shakes head:

Seems pretty dumb to me. They are cheap on ebay for a reason.

think about that statement they had to come from PTE themselvels in order to be sold as PTE injectors right?

alright, some more info to add.

the injectors that were posted are mitsubishi 550cc. believe to be made by siemens, but not yet confirmed. they could be motron brand, identified by having a plastic body.

these injectors are sold without being flow tested or balanced or sold in matched sets.

the ones i sell from pte are a different brand, look nothing like those at all, and are flow tested and sold in matched sets. thats why the ones i sell cost more money.
