Threw on the NA filter union on, and slapped a few other bits on, including a test fit of the head gasket.

Looks like only one rivet is a concern:

Had better results with 3Bond 1207b, not much difference in price though still a rip off.. :(

I have yet to understand why our headgaskets have the exhaust side water jacket ports correct, but they dont use a single port for the intake side. Wouldn't that make it stronger?

Well, they're not getting fed.

Did you order through Champion, or Elmhurst Toyota?

No, my local stealership. I asked how much a new oil galley plug was- $36.00!!

Well, I hope that FIPG is better than most of the stuff I can buy at my local parts stores.
Do you think I should reconsider?

You do realize that Champion or Elmhurst Toyota dealerships give us discounts for being Supraforum.com members. Go on their website, go to the sponsors section and they're both their. Just let them know you're a member and they'll hook you up. Much cheaper than the local stealership. Even with shipping included.

3Bond is OEM for a LOT of companies, Motorcycles Snowmobiles Cars and is usually marketed as "YamaBond" "SuziBond" and so on, very good stuff!

As I said have tried both and had much better results with 3Bond, for Pans once applied correctly and set you could just about pull the Bolts and have no leaks.

Ah. What about SupraMANIA members? :biggrinbo

Yeah, I knew that. I just *thought* it would be a similar price with little piddly stuff. I was wrong.

Got the oil pan powder-coated today, textured black. Feels rock hard, like stone guard....
...and so does the oil pan...(sorry, couldn't help it.)

Going to bring a few things to a metal refinisher shop tomorrow, to be re-zinc'd, like the coolant and vac pipes, alternator adjuster, crank pulley bolt, etc.

Just to revive this thread, an update on what's going on...
I currently have a bag of little parts/ mounts/ fasteners over at my buddy's house, for media blasting, and then the pile of stuff will be divided into three piles:
Those for black powdercoating, those for clear powdercoating(aluminum items), and those for zinc chromate plating.
Currently in the mail and due to arrive tomorrow is a MAFT pro, and a number of small specialty fasteners.

Today, I started pulling items off the old engine for cleaning or resale. Removed the coilpack, turbo, manifold, and radiator.
This is how the car currently sits:

I have to go out of town in a few days, but when I get back, I hope to make some progress in finishing the new motor, and pulling the old motor/ tranny.

And...The BIG project!

ITB's!!!!

just kidding. :p

I bought this setup, all in order to get these:

This is the intake to an Arctic Cat 700. They use Denso 680cc injectors, 2.9ohm impedance. Not only is this the proper
impedance for the 87-88 7MGTE, most importantly- It plugs straight into the oem harness. No muss, no fuss.
Not very useful if you're a Lex/550 kinda guy, or if you're going full standalone and mega power. BUT, If you're like me, using a MAFT
and going for middle power numbers, and don't want to hack up a brand new factory harness, these seem ideal.

Thanks, DMP.
I hope to have a fully assembled engine to show off by the end of the year.
...assuming the Mayans were wrong and we actually MAKE IT to the end of the year.
