Didn't do much today, but got one tiresome chore out of the way:
Plug n Play DG500 coil harness.

Thanks, Miekedmr.

I know it happened a while ago, but how hard was it to get the spherical bushings pressed in/out of the rear hub? To get it out did you remove the bearing and then cut the steel sleeve? That's how it looked in the pic.

No, if I recall, i pressed it all out as one piece. Unlike other bushings with a steel sleeve, this one is hella thick, and would be hard to cut.
I let PB blaster soak into it overnight first.

Today, I took care of a few more little nagging issues.
My Driftmotion intercooler made slight contact with the front center nose/ latch support, so I had to notch a bit of clearance into it. Also, the coolant overflow bottle interfered with the intercooler, so I decided to relocate it to the other side. This also required the relocation of the right side horn to the left side.

As it was.
p1989026_1.jpg

Cut the right side horn tab off, and notched the support for the IC.
p1989026_2.jpg

Then, I drilled a mount hole for the coolant bottle bracket.

Then, welded a bushing tab to where the old horn mount was, for the lower bracket mount.

And here's what it looks like, all reassembled.

This week, I should get a few more pieces in, so that I can finally finish my lower intercooler pipe, and then install the intercooler.

LOL. Not patient, just not in too much of a hurry.
But I will say that I miss driving it. I've been driving my Trooper now for a year and a half, and I'm in serious danger of becoming a 'truck guy'.

Nah- Got 4x4, now I need my car back on the road.

So, I went back into the garage this evening, to do a bit more work.
Got my weld-on mounting tab in the mail, so I put it to use.

Rear hatch cover support. This is the piece that straddles the floor between the rear shock towers, and the hatch floor mounts to its back edge.

Welded.

Underside brace.

Installed.

It holds the hatch floor up, but just barely. I bought a 30lb strut, unsure of how strong it would need to be. I think I'll end up replacing it with a 40lb unit.

Well, the hatch floor cant be opened when the targa is blocking it, so it's not for that scenario.

According to FedEx, my new wheel, new coil, and intercooler pipe section have arrived at the house.
Just need to escape Canada, so that i can put them to use.

No, due to the strut position, it has zero leverage in the closed position.
Yesterday, i was in Sudbury, today i'm in Thunder Bay, and tomorrow i'll be in Winnipeg.

Thunder Bay. Lake frozen solid.

If you were ever wondering why it's called project "git 'er done"...

I travel with him sometimes, and his motto seemed appropriate for a rebuild.
