Out of curiosity, where did you send your parts for zinc plating? Been wanting to get some misc brackets and things zinc plated but wasn't sure where to send them. And FYI some 7m's came with a heater pipe that has no RHD fitting on it. I think it might be the 89+ versions. I have one on my engine and it doesn't have that extra fitting on it.
Damnit. Didn't know that. Oh well, problem solved now.
I brought my parts to a local place . I paid $150 for a pile of stuff to be done. That's a steep price, but considering that they had to prep all the pieces,
and then string them all to wire, it wasn't too bad. Plus, their min. order was $100(+50 for prep), so I could have actually brought them more, but I didn't have any
other stuff for them at the time. Now I wish I had cobbled together a few more items first.

Well, that was a bit messy.
Separated the tranny from the engine, and found that I had really chewed into the flywheel.
It's a replaceable insert, but I dunno how hard it's going to be to get one. Gotta start google'ing.

So...
I went over to my buddy John's house a couple days ago, and got some more work done:
Along with the intake, I also did a few small brackets and support rods, as well as clearcoating the coolant piping.
Tomorrow should see the final assembly of the engine. Then it's on to the clutch/ tranny, then install.

Cannot wait to see those beauties on that engine! Any particular reason you decided to go black on the manifold? Just curious if it was a personal taste or if there was an underlying mechanical advantage to the black powder coat.

No, there's no benefit to the black powdercoating performace-wise, but using a powdercoat finish makes it very durable, and means i dont have to keep the aluminum polished, and also would hide any dirt smudges. I had read someone else's build thread years ago(couldn't tell you who), but they had done their manifold in blue wrinkle finish, and it looked great.
I'll have more pics up this afternoon.

Really loving the powdercoated intake. Wish I had seen it like that a couple weeks back.. could have had mine done as well.
Yup, I'll be stealing this for myself. It really makes the zinc plating POP.

No, there won't be a 3000 pipe.
I'll be using a Driftmotion intercooler kit, so it'll replace that section.

So today was just a little bit of fiddling around with little stuff, and taking note of what gaskets/ fasteners I still need.
When I pulled the old motor, I dumped alot of tranny fluid on the floor, and though the kitty litter soaked it up, I was getting tired of the stank,
so it was time to pull the car out and sterilize the garage floor again.
This is the first time my car's been out of the garage in over 6 months, and then it was only out long enough for me to pull the intercooler system.
Tomorrow I have to work, but regardless, we're getting to the point where I have to take a break, while I get another batch of parts in.
This time, I need the clutch, a Spec 2+. I originally had planned on tearing apart the tranny and "Marlin-Crawlin" all over it, but since it hasn't given me any grief, I think I'll save the money and the downtime to push on and finish up reinstalling the drivetrain. I have a LONG road still ahead in this department; Still have to:
Select/ purchase the turbo
Purchase the intercooler kit
Wire in the MAFT pro
Replace the Walbro 342 for either a 400 or an Aeromotive stealth.
Do the fuel pump relay mod.
But at least I can reinstall the motor tranny once I have the clutch.
