Not that anyone cares much about my lil' ol 6M, but I went back and retested it at the dyno after I figured out an issue, and she made 155whp and 175 ft/lbs.

Still having some issues though, getting some detonation, so gotta figure that shit out and probably get some more hp out of it.

That is right where I am hoping to be with all of my efforts.
On my mkIII.

I was never fond of the mkII's. They have grown on me quite a bit sense I went supra. I preferred the mr2. Until they did that spyder noise to copy the boxter. Anyway...,

I bet your car is a fun little drive.

lol, yeah... I was expecting 165hp 170ish tq... which I think is where it'll be at with some tinkering. The car pulls like a mofo at 3,000+rpm. My butt dyno wasn't too far off from the real thing.

My ECU is probably a POS, and I am going to end up punting it across my yard when I get a replacement.

6MGE bored .030" over, high comp pistons (around 9.7:1), crank polished, bottom end balanced, Trust/Greddy header, RabidChimp 2.5" exhaust, Magnaflow muffler, RabidChimp CAI, NGK plug wires, timing at 13 BTDC with 89 octane (should have used 92, doh)

stock cat and stock cylinder head (was only milled .005" for flatness)

Probably. Gas is a mix of 89 and 92... should probably get a small amount of race gas to keep around for dyno days.

I put 92 in the day I first dyno'd, put 89 octane in today but I didn't realize I would end up at the damn dyno, LOL

Fail!

91-93 should do it, don't think you'd gain much with the racing fuel:)

Well I mean have race fuel to add into my 89 octane tank.

I dont plan on running my car out of $4 a gallon gas to go put 92 in it for dyno days. If I have half a tank of 89, I'd rather just throw some race fuel in it and have fun

Could be. With the timing advanced a little probably should run a little higher octane

I think the detonation could be caused by the 9.7 comp ratio + the advanced timing + the headers :)

Oh I just remember cuel telling me he had to run higher octane when he put his headers on.

Don't know if the headers would cause the reason to run a higher octane. I think the higher compression and the advance in timing would cause the need to run a higher octane. I've always run at least 91 from stock to this rebuild with 10.5 to 1, couldn't say that when I put my headers on that it was a need to run the 91, could be and I would like to hear a reason for it for future reference:)

I would think that an effectively designed header would actually help with lower octane fuels as it *should* allow for more scavenging of exhaust gases thus leaving the combustion chamber cooler for the next cycle.

I can't remember for the life of me... what is the 7M-GE's stock CR?
