Not trying to get off-topic here, but since we are discussing climate control systems, I have a question. Of the four Supras I have owned, three of them had climate control systems that were possessed!! Currently, my 90 has its days when the system works perfect. Then there are days when its all out war - I hit medium fan, button pops right back out. Hit it again and again, pops back out. I don't want auto!! Ok, how about low fan? Now that button works. Wait, what happened to the up/down arrow display lights next to the temperature? Gone! ARGGHHHH!!!

So whats the secret? Get a new one from Toyota? (here's my arm and leg..) Or just get a used one and hope its possessed less than the one you currently have?

I dunno I've never had that problem but I haven't had my Supra for too long either. I'm actually buying LED's now I got the 89 climate control I just need the LEDs. Can anyone tell me a good place or site that sells them?

I don't understand all the stuff at the bottom so can someone that's nice enough read through it and tell me if these would be okay. I know it's asking for a lot but I have no idea what that stuff means. I'd really appreciate it and once I get this done I'll post up pictures of it:D.

Has anyone done this to a JDM climate control? I've read that unlike the USDM climate control the JDM one has everything built into the CC box. Would that still allow me to just take the CC apart and replace the LED's or is there other things to consider?

LEDs working one minute and off the next are due to cold solder joints in the CC. This is a common problem and can be solved by resoldering the LEDs in place with a good multi-core electronics grade solder.

the JDM CC's lack the auto climate features of the USDM's...

Okay, I'm going to do this. Anyone know what the size of the 7 segment displays are for the temp? I figure that it's gotta be pretty standard, most electronic parts are. Maybe I'll take a flyer and guess. Worst case is that I'll guess wrong, and have some 7 segment displays to play with.

As I recall, you don't need to change the display, just the colored plastic in front of it...

yeah but I heard it doesn't turn out as nice but I also heard that to replace the 7 segment thing it was REALLY hard(for blue). I'm probably just going to be doing the colored plastic thing. I'll let you guys know how it turns out. So did anyone have a chance to take a look at the link to the LEDs?

That's basically just a guide as to the forward voltage and curent draw that's optimal for the devices. Since the stockers are already there, then you shouldn't have a problem with just putting in replacements.

Okay, I'll probably just replace the plastic with something else then, and hold off on the 7 segment displays for now.

This is the stereo that I have now, so I could probably go with either blue or red for the buttons, but I'm thinking red. I'll probably also do the dashboard in red as well. That's probably easiest to just get some 194 replacements in red though. Or I might wimp out and get some red 194 lamps, so that I know that the dimmer will still work the way that I want it to. I like to turn the lamps down on the highway.

I recently changed mine to blue. I still havent found the perfect place for the resistors to knock the voltage down so they arent as bright. I also replaced the 7 segment temp readout on mine. I didnt want to expirment on different plastics and tints to get a good hue of blue. Was easy enough to do. The hardest part was bending the LEDs into shape.

Not very hard. You do have to do some modding to get it to fit right however. I had to cut an IC socket into place to get it spaced right. The pins on the replacement segment arent as long as the stock green one.

oh well I just took a look at my climate control and I'm not even going to attempt changing the colour of the display. That can stay green its too much work to change it lol. So yeah now that I have it in pieces I just need to order the LED's. Can someone tell me if those LED's would work if you don't mind?

its actually very easy.

you just replace the entire display.

you can either raise it up with a socket, or cut out a bit of the mold it currently rests in.

its very simple.

Those LEDs will work fine. Will just need resistors replaced to drop the voltage so they dont blind you.
