Biggest problem with mk3 owners right there.

Everyone is "all for" a new product, cause they want to see more products for the mk3, but when it actualy comes down to purchasing, no one steps up.

This guy is estimating the cost to be around 3k for subframes, he hasnt taken into account most people paid less then that for their entire car. Mk3 owners dont seem to understand parts cost MONEY. Development COSTS MONEY.

And to Tubbie: Do you belive we dont have competition for mk3 brake kits? Precision makes a kit, ARZ makes a kit, Endless makes a kit, Nightpager (and 935) made a kit. 935 spent the time and MONEY to have 10 Nightpager brackets made (which were much higher quality then the orginals) and he sat on them for about a YEAR, before finaly selling them off.

Almost every part on my car is top notch ......with the exception of the shit I made:icon_bigg

Yep, theres a few of us stupid ones on here that put massive amounts of $$ in these heaps.... ;)

But i agree 100%, its hard to make high-$$, extreme parts for these cars. The market just isn't there...The ones that make the expensive stuff work probably don't make much $ and do it more for the love of the car/community. Its a shame in a way.

I'd be interested in a stock stroke Callies crank. I know they make the one for the old HKS 7M drag car....do they still have the blueprints for it?

im not sure if they do, i would imagine so. when i talk to greg, ill ask him. i geuss i should be calling him soon.

So.... This sub frame you talk about, how is it going to be built?, CNC , or tubular. What kind of options for differentials are there going to be?

the subframes will be tig welded chromoly tubing. (a peice of 1 5/8" .065 weighs in at just under a pound- foot..... mild steel almost 2) and the gears will be our companies, with options of, 3.05, maybe even2.93's for the high horsepowercars, but more along the lines of the parts not readily available like 4.56, 4.88, and 3.93

Hey guys, i wanna thank you again for your support. i appretiate it VERY much. i understand theres no big $ involved. like i said im not trying to get rich... only go faster. this car is a dying breed, to bring it back to life to its fullest extent... turbo 3k$, subframes3k$, killerbodykit 1500$, countless hours of custom fabrication?$$$$,to see the poor crying, defeated faces of everyone around you, priceless.:evil2:

if you were to make something around a 3.20 LSD rear, it would target those wanting to put a getrag 6 speed in their car (those that have moneys).

just throwing it out there.

oh, and a nice set of 4.10s that wont blow up would be pretty nice.

Listen... Half you naysayers are flat out Ignant. Yes, you can get a full rolling MK3 for dirt cheap. that doesnt negate the desire for expensive chassis components.

if Everyone had that same mind set, the Fox body wouldnt have such a huge following. those cars are DIRT fuckin cheap. you can get a 4cyl Hatch for $400 bucks TOO! yet, you can bolt a Tubular K-member in, and 4 link it and all kinds of crazy shit. the Initial cost of the should have NOTHING to do with what someone wants to make and market FOR said vehicle.

I personally would LOVE to see an option for a tubular K-member just like 4th Gen F-bodies and Fox bodies get to benefit from. I want to see Tubular Lower control Arms for the front, just like they make for G-bodies, F-bodies, even huge-ass, non-performing B-bodies!!!

the naysayers REALLY keep this platform from evolving into a car that could be very mod friendly with plentiful parts.

The rear subframes in these cars, as well as the rear suspension links could stand to be revised. eventually, Junk/donor cars are going to become scarce. since More people keep thinking the MK3 is a shit box and not worth saving. soon enough, toyota will stop making replacment parts... so what are you going to do when there are no more donor cars and you cant get factory parts? ill bet youre going to kick yourself when you think, years back, when you said "this car isnt worth making chassis components for".

all you need is to take a single block of T6-6061 aluminum and carve it to bolt onto the stock MK3 hub and set it up for SL6R wilwood calipers. Another SM member here has/had the cad files to do this and offered to sell me sets of these adaptors for $120/set. I regret not buying 3 sets on the spot... Chris, if you read this, sell me some adaptors!

there is only a 4.10 torsen dif, and it tends to destroy itself on launches

i thought the n/a sport package or whatever came with a 4.10 lsd, and i thought torsions were ONLY available in the JZa70's? i could definatly be wrong but thats just how i thought it was. :1zhelp:

regardless, you could just buy a 4.10 diff and swap the gears into a clutch type and re-sell the torsion with the 3.90's from the clutch type.

You don't need a BBK on the street. if you have lots of horsepower and you are fading high quality pads on the street than you are driving way too hard and you probably will get a ticket eventually.

good, don't follow me too closely when a deer runs out in front of me, and my 6 piston wilwood kit brings me safely to a stop. i really don't want you to ruin the rear end of my car when you can't stop fast enough.

BBK's aren't just for racing, or other types of aggressive driving. we have heavy cars, and the stock brakes, even NEW stock brakes leave a LOT to be desired.

they add negative camber for racing, and won't help get back to a stock alignment when lowered (like some people want)

Here's a REALLY good question for all the people saying a BBK is not needed on our cars. Why the FUCK did Toyota decide to do it themselves with the design of the MKIV? Oh, dear, did they MAYBE realize in racing the MKIII that the brakes where NOT sufficent? THe MKIV brakes where the BEST of their time, easily outbraking the vettes, porsches and other supercars of it's time.

I see crappy cars weighing 1000lbs less than us with larger brakes than us. I can tell you one thing, try going down the highway at a good 70mph and have some asshole decide to make a u-turn WITH A TRAILER in the middle of the highway. All of us with stock brakes STOOD on our brakes and barely stopped before plowing into this guy. All you could smell was burnt brakes.

I had a suzuki aerio behind me, and he stopped WELL short of me, in other words his brakes where BETTER than mine.

FYI: a 4.10 clutch style rear end is easy by taking the ring gear off the torsen and putting it on the clutch style (or getting the N/A sport models).
