Just about finished with the interior.

Stereo wires ran to the hatch area:

The door sills are in.

Rear seats and harness retracters installed:

Center console and Sparco 3 Point Harness:

The shifter surround is just mocked up for the time being. I also have a new factory black leather shifter that I'll be putting in. I noticed a gap in between the carpet and the edge of the center console where it connects to the dash. To resolve, I cut some strips of dense foam and wedge them under the carpet. Looks great!

I plan on changing the hatch carpet to black when I put the stereo in. It actually doesn't look too terrible in grey for the time being.

All that's left is to plug in and mount the radio, Zeitronix ZR-1 wb gauge (in placed of cig lighter), APEX SAFCII (in place of ashtray), HKS VPC and EVC units; and install the front seats. Then I can finally get back to the engine bay and hopefully have this baby runnning in the next few months.

Yes! After much elbow grease I got the passenger seat installed. It would have helped if I realized that there are mounting spikes sticking out of the front of the rails. I can't believe how much time I wasted scratching my head trying to figure out why the front mounting points were resting 2" above the bolt hole. LOL :biglaugh:

Even after I cut the carpet more to accommodate I still experienced difficulty bolting down the fronts of the rails since the new carpet was so freakin thick. I could only get maybe 2 bolt threads in and then they would strip. I was getting ready to source longer bolts when I decided to give it one last try. I banged the rail down a bit with a hammer and then sat on the seat while simultaneously threading the bolt. Success! It would have been easier if I had someone heavy to sit in the seat while I bolted them down. Damn; I need fatter friends.

Anywho; I think the seat with the Corbeau harness looks great! Any opinions?

My Zeitronix ZR-1 wb gauge finally came. I was a little pissed when I saw how big this thing was. I honestly thought it was only 52mm and would easily fit where the Cig lighter was without much modification.

p1498369_1.jpg

But no biggie. Took my dremel to the center dash bezel and bored it out nicely. Even with it's large size, the gauge doesn't look nearly as out of place as I though it would. So in that regard I guess I lucked out.

I cut out some extra rubber to flushly fit the screen of my black SAFC2 in place of the ashtray and then made a little panel out of cardboard and covered that in leather to place on the right of the SAFC to hide the gap and the wires. Test fitted and looks awesome; but holding off on the pics until my radio brackets arrive and I have everything mounted-up. After of which I will post the finished result.

Stay tuned :evil2:

May you never have to adjust your window regulator.
: )

Luckily those covers I sealed-up the doors with are easily removable. I can pull one off in no time. Unfortunately, putting it on and sealing it back up is a different story.

Don't jinx me man!!! :biglaugh:

Nice work, but shouldn't your harness be mounted higher?

Not to my knowledge. I used Corbeau's recommended mouting points. The belt coming out of the retractor needs to be at a 45 degree angle for them to function properly.

You should still use a harness bar bro....if you get in a serious head on accident you run the risk of compressing your spine with that setup. You need something to stop the downward tug of the belts which a harness bar will do just that.

Youch! That's a scary thought. I guess that's why these belts don't conform to DOT and FMVSS standards. They're supposed to be ok for street use though. I guess I'll have to restrain myself from playing chicken.

I can't say I'm happy to find this out now. Nor am I happy that neither the reseller or Corbeau mentioned the danger in mounting these belts where they recommended.

Retractors will not function properly mounted at that angle.

What can I say? It is what it is. Thanks for the knowledge though. I may need to address this sooner or later.

the reason why they aren't dot approved is because they didn't pay for the dot inspection....as far as the harness bar...they will still work but you just don't wrap the harness around the bar....instead you set it up the exact same as you have it there but route the belts up over the bar instead of the seat....not a perfect set up but beats not having anything....right now you risk being in a wheelchair for something so minor:-(

That seatbelt setup isn't even race legal....an inspector "shouldn't" let that set up on the track....

How would a 40mph impact that paralizes you make you feel? What would life be like if you couldn't even rub one out let alone get it up? As a guy, I'd beg for death if my junk was not functional!

Appreciate your concern, but I'm not planning on tracking the car. It's going to be mostly to take to shows on the weekends. There are many people who run their belts this way. This doesn't make it right, but it's fairly common. I'm even following the manufacturer's mounting recommendations. If I start driving the car more often or decide to take it to the track I plan on going to a 4-point harness.

Once again, I appreciate the concern, put let's please not turn this thread into a "seatbelt safety" war.

No war man;-)

I just want you to know the risk involved if you use the belts as set up.

Either way...I believe I came 2 times looking at your car....your interior brings the O face:)!

It is obviously up to you, it is your car, but keep in mind it might not just be you that gets injured.

As was mentioned, if you add a harness bar, the belts simply wrap over to get the proper angle, your retracters would still work as designed.

<<< Broken back in 6 places, 2 weeks in a coma, had to learn how to walk/talk all over.

Accidents like shit "happen" and by their nature you have little to no say over where and when.

Not preaching it's up to you.

Center bezel is about done. I had to cut some rubber away to fit the radio and the SAFC. Came out pretty nice. I still need to make some leather inserts to cover the gaps to the left and right of the EVC/VPC (like on the right of the SAFC); but it shouldn't take too long. I'll come up with something a little more permanent once the car is running and tuned and I know I won't have to pull anything anymore. For the time being I cut some templates from poster board and wedged them in. Should look pretty flush when it's all done.

Ditched the leather inserts and went with vinyl with foam backing. Looks much better imo. Much closer to the surrounding rubbing than leather. I thought I was done, but I hooked up the battery to test out the radio and the face seems to be catching somewhere when it flips open. I can help it along to open and close but I'd burn the motor out in no time doing that. Sucks I have to pull it all apart and start over; I may just leave that for later.

Question: when I connected the battery to the fuse box; only the radio, antenna and A pillar guages (ran off of radio power) powered-up. Nothing else. Not even the instrument cluster. All engine harness plugs in the bay are not connected; but I can't see how that would matter. I doubt I blew a fuse; but anythings possible. I'll try and troubleshoot over the weekend. Any ideas? Because if it's not a fuse then I'm lost.
