Here is a picture of my block. I hope to get the head on it sometime today, but I've still got things to do so I can pay for all of this. The block had to be bored and then honed, the crank was polished, the head was rebuilt wiith new valve guides, I also had new main and rod bearings installed and the total bill was $536.00 with them suppling the bearings. I had to buy the new pistons and rings.

You can see the red / pink redline assembly lube that they used. I supplied that.

Keep up the hard work Jay!! I have the upmost faith in you that the car will be finished in time and that we will probibly make it to like almost Baton Rouge before I have to get out and push to Texas.:sarcasm::biglaugh:

J: I'm NOT a big fan of lifting motors like that :(

It would be a really good idea to put a straight edge across the deck at the holes used to make sure it hasn't distorted the surface....

Thanks IJ. It was only like that long enough to take the pictures and to bolt my engine stand up to it. It is on the engine stand now so hopefully all is well. I can't help but think you are trying to put some kind of IJAusie7m curse on my jz motor............;)

Noah, their will not be any towing strap brought with me on this trip, so don't even bother looking under the carpet in the back of my car over the spare tire.......:biglaugh:

Ryan, thanks for all the help you've been giving lately. I couldn't have made it this far without you..............

Kristel, I've got more pictures to post later, but I haven't got them developed yet. As a matter of fact, I haven't even taken them yet. I do have the head and the cams bolted and torqued right now. I torqued the ARP studs to 50, 70, 85lbs. I torqued the cam bolts down to 12lbs. Does anyone know if this is correct? I had a diagram of the torque sequence, but it was in Japanese so I couldn't tell how many foot pounds they recommended.

Thanks for the help and concern. Hopefully it will actually crank up one day. I hope to get a lot done this weekend.......(crosses fingers)

IJ, I've already got the head on it and torqued down. I hope I didn't mess anything up. If I did, I'll be the first to know. If I had read this sooner, I would have checked it, but I'm sure I didn't mess anything up...........(really, really, really crosses fingers and toes)

Just hurry up and get that thing out of the way. That way when they get my motor ready you can concentrate on the one that really matters..........mine..:sarcasm:.....:biglaugh:

Jay, if damage were to happen, I would think it would happen during the lifting, not just while hanging. That's where the actual transfer of weight happens.

Maybe he's saying to check it in between this test fit, and the final installation???

Looks nice Jay. Tick Tock..

Who is this .......Father time?

Wait, he IS majoring in Time, so who would know better?

it is about 3.5 hours to houston from baton rouge ryan, so you better bulk up if you're gonna be pushing. but i guess that's why jay is bringing the strap, so he can be pulled.

So how long is it from your house to Baton Rouge Noah? Sounds like 7 hours or less for me, but I could be wrong.

You know in thinking about my pushing the car from Baton Rouge coment, I now feel it may have been wrong of me to make such assumptions. I mean really, I am Jay's guest in his car so he should be the one to get out and push the car to Texas.:icon_razz

Glad I got that off my chest I feel much better!! :icon_bigg

IJ, I'll check it again, but I'm pretty sure it's o.k. I think you're just underestimating the power of the jz motor, but I'm used to that from you 7m guys...........:biglaugh:

Seriously, thanks for the help and concern. I don't really have anything straighter than a level though, so it will have to do.

I may grace this thread with more pictures tomorrow evening. I'm hoping to get some work done on it tomorrow afternoon after my JOB.

Wow man looks great. I have been convinced to go 1.5jz as well. I have already started to order a few small parts for th build, but nothing major yet. Maybe ill give you a call tomorrow if i get a chance to talk about parts and how we can meet up for the block and heads to be rebuilt. You really have great prices on the rebuilds!

So far the motor looks great! Can wait to see some final build pictures! Ill be in touch soon.

J: My major concern is that the bolts are providing a lever and while I know Jack about Jz's I do know Toyota don't make really thick decks so I'm worried that lifting it that way will deform the deck.

It would suck to put it all together and get a BHG shortly after.

Short bolts and aluminium spacers bolted directly to the Deck would be fine.
