Josh, if you like it, buy it. Do you automatically have to have a catchcan if you have a 1jz? I never needed one with my 7mgte. I was just wondering.............:dunno:

Your pp saids you have a 91. If you have a 92 then that's going to be sweet. I would like to buy a 92. I seen one about two months ago and pulled the guy over and talked with him. It was a teal 92 N/A five speed. It was dead sexy. If I see him again, I will probably try and buy it from him...............lol

Origianly i was going to buy the catch can to avoid the blown turbos problem.

but with investigating further i found out what was myth and truth about that.

Just Make sure the first thing you do is change your PCV Valve it's $3.75 and worth every penny. Some people say change it with every oil change. But i figure with ever other oil change will be fine. Maybe even more.

The Old style valve was not sturdy enough and it fails allowing boost preasure from the intake mani into the cam Covers. The Turbos then over work to keep the boost preasure up and BLAMMO you have turbo that are starting to die.

By replacing the valve you stop the leaking issue and the over boosting by the Turbos. Since it is a MAP system the ECU doe snot see this Happening due to where the Leak is.

A Very Interesting thing to know. same as why i want a proper boost gauge and spent the cash on that to make sure i am getting proper vacum and not over boosting. Those Ceramic turbines a nice for spool but not very durable with high boost. Plus i need them to last a while. After shelling out all this cash i want to enjoy it for a bit before having to empty my pockets into the Black ABYSS again

I just want to have it to get one more thing out of the way.

I had a 91 then I moved on to a 92. Both were black and with the rare options. 91 was super clean with a Sunroof and all engine goodies I put in it.
92 is the one black on black. I was lucky enough to have a 92 1jz go in it :)

oh kool. mine is a 92, so most of it is same.

when i was looking for my Car i tried to find a 92. but their were none to be found at the time.

In All honestly i just wanted the Charcol Interior...mmmmmm  Still want. Keep thinking to myself how much Toyota would charge for all the internal Panels plus the Dash. which i heard is a night mare to take out.

Probably would have to sell and few organs and do allot of donating at the sperm bank to bank roll that one

The dash is probably harder to swap than the motor is. JK, but it is pretty hard, or at least time consuming. I read somewhere that one guy had did it a few times and could do it in about an hour and a half now. I'm sure you can handle it. Iplan on doing my swap (dash) while I"m swapping the motor out. My dash has a blue cover over it. I have a grey dash I'm going to replace it with, and then dye all of it the same color as my leather.................lol

That catch can is ok, theres nothing to them inside anyway, mine is greddy, it looks the same. It helps to keep from sucking oil in the turbo inlet from blowby. I file fitted the rings, built it loose for high boost + nitrous, so I do get some blowby.

why exactly would you want it loose. To Purposly let some of the blow py back into the intake?

Or do you do that so you don't run to hot and get the engine to burn some bits of almost non burnable gases.

FYI: if anyone in this thread talking about being afraid of the wiring wants it done for them.... ill do it for a decent price. im speaking of the jumper harnesses for the body. i can also make a jumper harness for the ea2 connector but its better to do that by removing the other clip as to keep it clean.

if anyone is interested in having me do their body jumper harnesses PM me... heres the ones i did for mark(rakkassan):

sm_photo_missing.jpg

complete plug and play sans the AC amplifier wire which will be connected once i get to the car. other harnesses will look different depending on what options there are (IE: auto, tems, abs etc)

That's a great idea, I wish I thought of that... :biglaugh:

I cant wait to see some pics so I wont feel so lost. Without a clip to look at I cant visualize even what or where this jumper harness connects. Im guessing it just plugs into then connectors off the JZ harness and routes through the firewall to connect to the ECU?

It looks like you did a nice job on it. I'm all about supporting the local guys too. Thanks for helping him get it done! Rakkasan has a house swap underway in addition to the engine swap!
