Sounds like this swap isn't going to be as easy as we were told it was going to be.....................:nono:

I'm very scared now!

"I am wondering though. all those hard lines that are under the bumper. do you need to move those as well"
No you don't, reuse the lines that are in your car for the hydro fan. For the power steering you will need to buy a high pressure power steering line from the mkiv. Driftmotion sells them with the banjo bolt. Your hydrofan will hook up pretty much the same in your car as it did in your clip, so remember how you pull it out.

"The wiring is starting to confuse me. Do i have to move all the wiring from the clip? some of it goes under the front quarter panel."
No, you'll need the EA2 plug though, it's the big gray plug by the fuse box on your front clip. http://www.1jz-gte.us/documents/SubDocs4/EA21989.pdf
Don't worry about any other wiring, just the engine harness.

"There are some wires like the one for the rad temp sensor. What does everyone do to integrate this into the MA70 "
Not exactly sure, I had robert at 935 make my harness and that sensor was integrated into my engine harness, it needed lengthened.

"Plus if you have to move the hard lines for the PS and hydro Fan. How the hell do you get them into your car? there is no hole on the Drivers side to run those lines back to the PS Pump. Does everyone just make custom lines to make them work?"
Like I said, MKIV 2JZ line, it runs underneath the engine.

man this thread is awesome. You guys are lucky though getting a whole clip to work from. I just bought a car with a 1JZ project not finished. I have no clip to refer to and I know Im going to be missing stuff. As a matter of fact I dont have the computer already. Im going to put a 7mgte back in this car as I dont have the time to research this swap and want to get this car running as soon as possible. I am really looking forward to reading further. Keep up the good work!!

i am a little curious though. the hardline on the clip for the Hydro fan has some fines to air cool the line. our cars do not. won't it affect the performance of the fan or posibly damage something?

i am getting the PS line. even bought it from driftmotion. Plus the oil preasure sensor adapter and a graddy timing belt.

the hard lines i pulled from under the bumper are completly usless then?

just that PS line is needed?

for some reason when i was looking at it all. i though i was going to still need those lines. Well that is good news though.

The Hydro fan had a double washer as well like the one for the PS line. can i reuse it? since i had to disconect it in taing things out.

i will post up some pics in a little bit

ninja edit:

the hardline i was talking about goes from the PS Resivoir the first picture to the other hard lin under in the fron bumper the second picture. it heads over to the other side of the car for the PS. how do you attach the PS resivoir with out using the lines?

I see pictures of other swaps and people still have the Resivoir on the same side of the car.

Oh i am Stupid just thought of it now NM...........................

Jusrealized that the lines will still be thre from my Curent PS...DUH

I am sick with the flu so maybe i'm just not thinking strait

LOL

I think it is still an easy swap for an upgrade compaired to the 2JZ

Also i think people just for get to mention how much time and work is really involed in doing it. For one person by him or herself it is a pretty large task

Not sure if your supposed to reuse those crush washers, but I did and I haven't had any leakage yet. I don't know what you're talking about with the power steering, it all stays on one side of the car. You're going to have to remove the hardline that goes through the subframe and your going to have to buy some hose to run from the resovior to the pump, I bought a few feet of fuel hose and that fit perfectly. Unless I'm forgetting something...

you mean check valve. yeah i had to buy one too, can't believe it cost 30 bux.

so i guess i need it then eh?

maybe i can get my friend to fab me up a block off for the recur and make a plate and weld on the HKS fitting for a BOV to go in the stock location. With the one bolt there do you think it will hold?

If someone was smart they would start selling kits for that spot. for anyone who wants a BOV but has not bought any IC Piping yet.

oh wait i sense a product coming on LOL

so let's make one here for JUSDM

make it out of aluminum and it will be great. I will see wait i can cook up. Maybe i'll do a group buy if it's worth the time and money spent.

do you have an idea of what they cost. so i know what kind of price target i have to hit to make it worth it for everyone.

just popped into my head but how do i know what year my clip is for the ECU pinouts. Or is there no change for the 1JZ for 90 - 93

1jz pinouts are the same. You gotta make sure which car it came out of as the soarer ecu was different. If its a from a jza70, its the same..I think the soarer ecu /harness had three rows?? Someone correct me if I am wrong please.. :).

not to argue with what Aaron said, but our BOV's look to be the same as the 2nd gen MR2. The MR2 BOV has a check valve and dual ports, and it a push type valve so it will have no problem holding any kind of boost pressure. The check valve was put there so the valve would stay closed easier when in vacuum. HKS came out with a similar system with their older super BOV with electronically activated check valve. They later got sued by Toyota.

HOWEVER, I've never seen the 1JZ piece in person, so I'm sure Aaron is correct...

It's a filter on the stock bov not a check valve. You could possibly run without it, it's just to keep crap from getting in the bov diaphram. Auto Zone would have a filter like that for $5, I can't see spending $30 on it.

are you sure? elmhurst toyota lists it as a valve and if you blow through one end air goes through, but through the other end it doesn't.

On my JZA70, that thing was a check valve, and broke about a week after I got the car. I replaced it with another check valve from Canadian Tire.

As for the oil filter, Toyota used the same filter for all supras from about 85 onward. I know this because I just went to the dealer to pick up a filter, and took a look at his oil filter listing sheet :). 5M, 6M, 7M, 1JZ, 2JZ, they all have the same filter. Just pick one up for any of those.

As for a BOV, believe it or not, HKS actually makes an SSQV kit that bolts onto the stock location. It's pretty cheap too, around $380cad for the whole kit, including the SSQV. I know this because I just went to an HKS dealer about getting a BOV a week ago :)

And change that Y-pipe while the engine is out of the car. Yes you can do it with the engine in the car (I did), but it is NOT fun.
