My Only reason for not taking apart the whole engine is that i am running out of time here. My car is in an unheated garage and well it's flip'n cold out. I need to have this finished and so i must not do some things. My clip had an odometer ( i know i spelt that wrong) in it that read 55,000 KM or 32,000 Miles. I have no idea if it was abused badly. but at the same time there are no signs of any major abuse. More like an owner that did some proper maitinece to the car. Part of the clue for me is that there was not a single performance mod on the car. which is a pretty big scene in Japan. I would expect someone there who is performance orientend and looking to pus a car to most likly have had some upgrades. Everything i have seen on mine is Bone Stock. even the Air filter

I've already boght a new intercooler from Aaron at www.driftmotion.com ..........:biglaugh: I'm also going to go with the 550injectors. I don't know much about the standalones. If Aaron would explain to me the pros and cons then I may have to get one. Right now all I have is an SAFCII to adjust my fuel with. I don't know of anything else I'll need to adjust on a regular basis. Someone enlighten me................lol

SAFC-II will work just fine for your mods. I have it on mine and no problems whatsoever.
Oh yeah, once you get the car tuned, you will not be needed to make changes on a regular basis. I haven't touched my SAFC since it was tuned on the dyno. YOu can save multiple tunes in there though that you can switch between.

Well here is a link to a bunch of pics i took.

http://bobiseverywhere.com/images/supramania/1jzbuild/

I haven't done much since i am still waiting on parts to come in. they should be here soon.

I am going to try and put together a little web page with a run down of what i did and with what pictures i have.

I am very Curious now to see how i will get everything back together. Hope i do it right and not forget anything.

I am still trying to work out where that lead from the alternator goes to. Or am i supposed to buy a longer cable and just run the cable over to????

i forgot to ask also is the O2 sensor the same as the one for the 7M other then the conector. I had bought one new the Denso one that needs to just be wired in. Was wonder if i can use it or not. Figured it would be a good thing.

also what thermostate can we use the one from the 2JZ? Or is there a better one to use?

I haven't started a thread yet. I will start one this upcoming week. A real good friend of mine is wanting to help me with the thread. I will describe him to you. He is white. He drives a gay ass'd blue supra. His name rymes with The Loop. Did I mention he drives a gay ass blue supra...............:biglaugh:

Aaron has suggested that I don't remove my head, so I'm not going to replace the head gasket. I am still going to buy some cams and install them. I've heard it's one of the best upgrades for a 1JayZ. I'm going with a 60-1 Turbo I think. It's not the biggest, but I want a quicker spool. I will just treat this as a trial and error and fix anything I screw up. Hopefully it won't be that much.

Well it's December 3rd and my gaskets, Metal PCV and Throtle cable from Toyota, Turbos and Down Pipe have come in.

I took off the Cam Covers and here is what i found. I had no idea the CAMS were so Thick. compaired to the 7M cams. I had just started cleaning the area up a bit as you can see in the pics.

I forgot to purchase a thermostat but that is just a small detail. as far as i understand the 1JZ and 2JZ use the same thermostat.

Also one of the pics i have of the itake mani. Its a what goes here pic. Can someone tell me?

I also have no clue how i am going to losen the bolt on the Crank Pulley / damper. I do really want to change the timing belt and front main seal but what can i do :(

Try getting a chain wrench around the crank pully to hold it, or better yet, wedge something in the flywheel.

As for the hole on the intake, are you sure it goes through? IIRC, there was just a hole on mine too, but I could be imagining things.

i guess i will have to try the chain wrench. It's on the engine stand and the fly wheel is off.

I don't think it goes through. I have tried shining a light on the inside to see if it bleeds through and nothing. Just wanted to make sure. Maybe the Whole was not strait through so the light was not making it out.

Good luck on that bolt Bob. Thats all I can say. I had to take mine off last weekend when I pulled my motor and it was a PITA!!! It bad enough in the car hooked up to the drivetrain, but out of the car is CRAZY! You will definitely need another person. I ended up using a prybar in the flywheel teeth wedged in a nook at the rear of the block. After the fact I read a post from IJ about using a small piece of chain. One side sinched down through a flywheel bolt and the other I guess through the rear of the block maybe. Sounds like a good idea if it doesnt snap a bolt off, as I had to put some serious torque on that thing. I used a 25" breaker bar with a 2 pipes on top of that. I would say total length of my breaker bar was approximately 4 ft or so and it was bending the breaker bar!I hope yours will be easier but I doubt it. Also me personally I would not want to try breaking that loose on your engine stand. I think those bolts already have extreme amounts of stress on them just holding up that monster assembly. The amount of muscle you will have to use to break the bolt loose could break one or more. Unless maybe if you brace the front of the motor from underneath with a piece of wood or something. Good luck

thanks for the input mk3forme

i think i'll wait or just pay Toyota to change the belt :) hehehe

with the info you gave me. I decided to start putting everything back together.

It looks as if i made one mistake with my wiring. When reading the diagrams i cut the conector for the alternator and wired the wires into the EA2 connector but left out the connector to the alternator.

as i understand it you are supposed to cut the conector off and extend the wires so that you can solder them into the EA2 connector. either way i will have to see if i can find that conector. Or cut up my 1J harness to extend that connector :3d_frown:

I have atleast changed the gakets on the exhaust side and the valve cover gaskets. Not to mention i changed out the cam cover bolt with allen head ones, with stop washers. Obviously to stop the cam cover from coming loose.

I am still planning on changing the rear main seal at least.

I pulled all the plug out today just to double check things. All seemed to be ok

Glad to hear you're making progress. All I can do is look at mine until I receive the cams from Zazzn, wiring harness from Aaron, and turbo kit from Aaron. I'm also getting speed cut defender, motor mounts, and a couple other things from Aaron...................I had better get a Christmas card from Driftmotion.............:biglaugh:

Hope the turbos pull strong for you Josh...............lol
