I gotta get out of this thread.........the blue is just getting too much to handle. I used to be able to handle Jay/Kwnate, but I never thought my best buddy would sell out on me too. Now that all 3 of you are here, it's starting to hurt my eyes.

No stick around Scott. Having a little red, well actually, red, white, and grey in my thread is adding a little flava flave.

The Dr. said my MRI looked good, which I'm glad but also a little irritated because something is wrong. He referred me to physical therapy, which I probably won't do. I'll just go on as is for now and if things are still the same after the new year, then I'll go back. Why can't these things be cut and dry instead of so vague? At least I'm not looking at back surgery anytime soon.

Now I'm off to go replace the fan clutch and piddle with other little shit around my house.

I'll give you my neck! It's only got 4 bulging discs. I just got my file copies to take with me to another doctor he referred me to. On paper, it's a lot worse that what he explained to me.

Why would I want your neck??? Been there...done that! Still got traces of the neckgina. :biglaugh:

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOkkkkay.

So I drive out to the house today after buying one of those radiator tester things. I wait for the engine to cool off a little and put it on and pump it up to about 15 psi and walk away for a few minutes. Well I come back to find the pressure at about 12 psi and falling. SHIT!!! I relieve the pressure and go crank it up and POOF! Out comes a small cloud of white smoke, something that it's never done.

So in conclusion...

::bhg::

I decided right then and there the car shall not move again till fixed. I called the wife to come get me and starting Monday I'm going to have an engine party. I really hated leaving the car there since nobody lives there and it's not in the garage. My neighbor said he'd keep an eye on it and he's always home and notices everyone who drives up the driveway when the house is getting shown by real estate agents.

So that's that! ::moebaker::

Physical Therapy is amazing man...

My ex had a major problem with her knee, had two surgeries and it still popped, ended up being a knot in a tendon and physical therapy got rid of it.

I'll probably go at least one time to physical therapy and then do the home excersises.

Now back to bidness.

Believe it or not, I've never actually tackled a blown headgasket myself. When the 89 na had one, I let Christian fix it. The 86.5 got a rebuild and all I did there was put the engine back in the car.

I plan on having the head resurfaced. That way I'll feel better about it since I overheated once. This problem, although nowhere near as bad, existed prior to me buying the car so no telling if they overheated it.

Need advice on what to do. No MHG talk. It's getting OEM. I've already got the parts from Toyota. Oh, and the engine will be out of the car when I do this.

Best stuff for to reseal oil pan?

Have not bought any ARP bolts yet but will look into that tomorrow.

Spray sealer for HG???

Will examine misc hoses when engine is out of car. It will be getting a new accordian pipe.

Clean engine bay while engine out. Best degreaser? It's an oily mess under there.

I welcome all advice.

I'm on a timeline here too. kwnate is circling my car like a vulture.:icon_razz

Resealing the Pan Use.

3Bond/Suzuki Bond 1207B. (Worth every damn penny!)
http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages.../860/16166/1/0/0/0/0/0/0/0/liquid-gasket.aspx

IJ uses it and i read a technical data sheet on it. It withstands 1000+ PSI!

No spray on the HG fo'sho! NONE! (It's graphite coated.)

Simple Green and a Scotch brite Pad is best wear gloves and avoid getting any simple green on the fenders!

New Hoses for the heater lines, back of the head, and turbo. (Might as well) Toyota ONLY or Gates if you wanna save 20 bux. ;)

If you're going this far. Might as well go for a hone with new rings. Get the Crank Mic Polished with new Bearings and get a new oil pump or at least check spec and a new relief spring. ;)

Also loose the stock oil cooler setup NOW! It's garbage. :)

Consider doing a valve job and replacing valve seals too. Suprarich sells a good kit for them for cheap!

Valve steam seals are a MUST.

Yes you can use spray sealer on a stock HG.

Simple Green is weak, and Castrol Super clean is way too harsh, I use spray engine degreaser and get to scrubbing.

Just follow the TSRM and you'll be fine. Always remember that the only difference between you and someone on an assembly line is tools and knowledge, and the knowledge is in the TSRM.

I'm doing all this at my house, that's currently on the market, so time is a factor, a very crucial factor. Beside the fact that my wife, who is the listing agent, is not happy about this, I cannot and will not leave my car in pieces for an extended period of time when I can't be there everyday.

What I'm doing with the car is all that my money will allow. The bottom end is good and have no reason to worry about it.

A 2JZ would like real nice under the hood and it is the ultimate goal for me but I don't have the 5 grand to drop on that right now.

I'm still on a re-torqued stock gasket as well. It will be the weak link in my car. If ever I get all the power out of my motor that it's built for, we will see how much it will hold. I'm hoping to be near 400+/-. I'll leave it stock for that week , or however long it holds. The new clutch and miss diagnosis should allow me to be ready to tune and see real soon.

The main think I'm going to tell you is DON'T FORGET TO DRAIN THE BLOCK.

There is a drain plug on the exhaust side of the block, you have to drain that or you risk getting coolant into the oiling system.

The rest is just tedious work. Make sure to follow torque specs and remember....it can never be too clean :D

It really is much easier that you think it is, good luck and let the TSRM be your bible.

Thank you! I did not know that. I will definitley drain the block before popping the head off.
