make sure your water pump isn't starting to seep coolant.
i had the same thing happen on my alltrac & sure enough there is dried coolant around the water pump so it's on its way out. for me i doubt the thermostat has ever been replaced either. i'd like to think the water pump was replaced when the timing belt was changed but with the "excellent"? auto shop previous owner took it to i don't ever assume anything lol.

love the blue btw! :)

Sounds like you have a pinhole leak somwhere. If the pressure is lost int he system, it will start to boil and overpressurize the system...

Replace it with a MHG and ARP's. Make sure it's prepped correctly for the MHG. This will ensure you a good seal, especially if you don't plan on modding it. Then, if you ever get the urge to add a little power, you won't have to worry about it.

I hate that you already have to do this after just getting the white car's motor done. It happens very frequently to just purchased vehicles. Coincedence? I think not!

ok, so i'm aliittle drunk...been over at the neightgors house drinking beer. That Miller chill is some good stuff.

Ok...I was planning on doing a stock hg repalacment with some studs or a least som arp bolts. The car has maode it this far on a stock factory hg with no modifications. so I think a new Toyota hg torqued correctly will serve me just fine for what I want to do , and that is cruise...no racing.

I really hate that I"m doing this so sooon after the white car also. I really wishe I had someone to help me knock this out in a couple of days as I know it'll take me a couple of weeks probably. I was staring at the engine (just for you dunckle, no motor) just now before coming in the house and sighing, but also thinking I could have this th ing pulled in a few hours if I would just DO IT. I'm such a whiny ass procrastinator sometimes.

Well I'd like to think that but the system is building pressure ever so slightly. Enough to slowly build and push the coolant out. Just now, afte it had been sitting for at least 6 hours I twisted the cap and it still had a lot of pressure. so much it blew a shitload of coolant out of the overflow tank. I've never seen a green puddle under the car either. I don't knwo. The hg and seals need replacing no matter what. I jsut hope I didn't fuck anything up todya when it got overheated. It never hit the red but got damn close there for a minute.

Compression and leakdown test is in order...

I'm not going to bother. It's coming out and getting replaced no matter what.

Today I drove out to the other house and drained the overflow down to a normal level. After cleaning up the garage a little I took off and just drove it for about 50 or so miles. When I got home the overflow bottle was full again.
The system is slowly building too much pressure. So it's now "parked" until I drive it back out to the other house to begin working on it.

Deadline is Nov 1st remember that! hahaa

That's not looking likely.:nono:

BTW. I put a new radiator cap on yesterday. Whats psi is the cap supposed to be rated at??? The one I replaced was 14 psi, and it was an aftermarket. The new one is 13 psi. I just noticed that today. I looked in the TSRM but couldn't find it.

It is normal to push coolant into the bottle as long as it's not enough to push coolant OUT of the bottle, then it should suck it back into the radiator after its cold if the cap is working properly. A bad radiator cap will cause you to keep pushing coolant out of the bottle, and eventually overheat. If you are starting with the overflow at full, and can drive 50 miles without spilling any over, your doing pretty good.

I started with it almost empty. I got home and it was full and there was, once again, coolant on my intercooler.

I ordered about $400 worth of stuff from Champion today. It'll all be here in about a week. After our open house this weekend I'll starting pulling the engine.
New OEM HG kit, seals, and new turbo gaskets. I'll scout around for some ARP's.

Just a guess Jay.............but he was at DM buying, and said he would start scouting for ARP's. My bet is funds ran short, and he was either going to wait on funds, or scout the parts for sale here.

I'm sure he appreciates the links though.

Just popped back in here, sucks about the HG :( I challenge you to have your car running by Nov 1st :D Mine is in 1000 pieces and I WILL be there...

If not, you should catch a ride down, it's a great time and there are lots of awesome people. Plus you will have extra motivation afterwards to get your car running again :)
