Rob, To be honest I don't think Sean even tried to fit it in there. It looks pretty close to me. If I have to carry it in the back seat. Will keep a blanket to wrap it in if need be. The cage really out weighs the small hassle for the targa in my book. Text me if your around this weekend, perhaps I can buy need lumber for the woofer box.

This weekend doesn't work for me. Im heading to the cities.

Rob, no problems on this end. There is still so much to do. Sean and I went through our list. Since I do pay him for helping me out, he should have a substantial amount to put towards his turbo sitting down at SupraSport.

Dave, Putting in a cage made a lot of sense. I am not exactly an experienced 1/4 mile driver even though I have done my share of street racing. The safety issues are paramount to me. Since I will be turning 55 and doing well physically, makes sense to keep it that way.
The other reason is with the new set up, TBB Comp 67 turbo, Sound Performance spool valve, using 2 step, and perhaps a set of drag radials, if all goes well, we will likely be kicked off the track because I expect to quickly drop below their 11.5 1/4 mile time criteria. Going faster requires a roll bar. We just went with a bar because it is good enough to run 10's. I have no plans to compete against you Dave:icon_lol: So a full cage isn't required. We still have not got the interior back in the car, so not 100% sure of fit. The bar is right behind opening for the targa.
I think Joe Zwilling did a job that reflects his reputation. I am please to say the least.

87mkIII Thanks to my nephew Sean aka funky_monkey58 (who got banned here, for giving a few moderators a tough time) the deal on the very slightly used cams was indeed sweet. The 2jz has got this real nice lope to her now, combined with my Greddy exhaust sounds sweet.

DaveH Thanks for commenting here. Most of the MKIII crowd has no idea who you are. Of course all the guys on Supraforums do. Sean and I plan on either driving our cars or trailering at least one of them up to Fargo this summer.

Very nice project that you have going here, it's been good to follow. You do have a good support group with Sean and Rob. Trust that you will see 750 and 10's fairly soon.
It's funny, I had no idea that DaveH was on here. I've been following his work on Club Lexus, actually looking at his kit to take my son's SC300 NA/T. Keep up the good work!

Fred, thanks for the compliment and the words of encouragement. I will be must happier when she is actually running. Just tweaking now. Once turbo gets in we are going to quickly redo intercooler piping, and downpipe hook up. Electrical fans and battery box instillation, plus gas tank. I should be able to drive around on my current tune until I can get her to the dyno. I am already saying for a new clutch.

Fixitman04 I agree. That Fargo crowd has some damn fast cars for such a small city.

Tonight we got the carpet back in and installed the drivers seat. It's a snug fit. There is a small amount of space behind seat and in front of the bar when I am in preferred driving position. If I get tired of the fit will buy racing seats. There is also snug fit at the door, again tolerable.

I like that color match, Dan! Very low-key for being a roll bar.

Never going to have passengers in the back, though. Those tabs behind your seat would be damn scary to be sitting behind. Sean shish-kebob ftl, lol.

Thanks for the compliments guys. Good to see you on here Steve. It is slowly coming together. Still not fast enough for me though. Honestabe, I don't drive a Mercedes, I have a BMW 330ci for my daily driver. My wishes are for her to be as reliable as last summer.

Rob, I plan on using her for daily driving most of the summer. Now that Lucia has driven the BMW around, she prefers I take the Honda Mini van. Screw that, I plan on driving the Supra. Installing the cage was really more a safety issue for me. You have been privy to how hard she pulls. At least if something would happen, there is another layer of protection. I do plan on going to the track as well but not every Wednesday night.
It is official we did sell the house and now are seriously looking to find a place before the 4/30 lock in dead line for a tax credit.

House is sold!? Congrats! I might have to try to convince you to let me use the lift one last time for my dad's '68 Beetle. If you're okay with that.

I hope your new setup will work well this summer - nothing says "hardcore" like daily driving a car with a cage. :evil2:

Congrats on the house sale!

Daily driver! looks like your elbow will think other wise when trying to open the door or reach the power window switch. Even the gas tank lever looks like it will be a PITA.

But every thing looks good Dan! Good luck on finding a new home here shortly. Hopefully it has a nice shop so you can can bring your hoist with.

Emilio, The tentative closing date is June 1st, so there will not be an issue getting the bug into the shop. The hoist stays as part of the deal, but all else goes. I have a feeling we will be building a shop not modifying the one on the new property. Finding a place is quite a bit more difficult when you add the shop to the mix. Most don't have 12 foot walls. That is why I have told Lucia, find a house we can agree on and I will build a shop. I plan to break ground on it 24 hours after the papers are signed.

Rob, if you remove the door bars it really isn't tough at all to reach hatch release or window. When driving around town, I don't plan on having door bars on. It is not too difficult to actually pull the pin, slide the bar open and get out. The gray paint helps quite a bit so the cage doesn't stick out to bad.

Been a while since I posted here. We have the fuel system all set. Sean hooked up the kill switch for the whole system. Ran it through the rear license plate. Looks good. We also bled the brakes and hooked up several wires to the AEM. One to regulate the electric fans, the other for the kill switch.
The turbo is supposed to be in tomorrow, finally!!! If not, I may be driving the BMW to the Supra meet. More reliable and almost as much fun.

My Turbo came in today! Finally here. Bad news, the billet 67 wheels would not balance out so Comp sent one with regular wheel. This will be exchanged for a billet wheel when they get them to balance correctly.

Turbo specifics: CT 4367, TBB, A/R is 1.0 divided exhaust housing, Q trim exhaust. This combined with a Sound Performance spool valve. Should be really bad ass. Here are a few pics. Sean is working tonight on getting things set. It's probably going to be a couple of days until we fire her up though as we have a few small parts to pick up from SupraSport.
