It is quite a nice piece :)

Done with my oil filter mounts, except I should take them off and paint them...
Even though it doesn't look like it, there are orings to isolate the mounts from the body

Almost done with all my oil lines

So me and Kylefoto (and a few other helpers) tried to get my engine in yesterday...

And the damn thing won't line up! We didn't have enough clearance to use the load leveler, and even with 4 people we couldn't get it lined up, Only 1 motor mount stud would actually line up with the mount on the block... so we got one in place, with a nut threaded to the very tip, and the other one just would not line up no matter what we did!! VERY frustrating!!! Either we didn't have enough clearance, or the correct angle...

I really felt like the motor mount combination I have isn't lining up, but it's SOO close! I'm using stock pre 89 mounts on the engine and bic pre-89 semi-solid mounts on the chassis side... is there ANY way one of these is flipped or somehow not lined up correctly?

After finals week is over, I will attempt to tackle this again. Right now it is resting in the bay, one mount connected, one mount resting on the stud :(

I'm thinking I just need to remove the bic mounts from the subframe, installing them onto the engine block mounts, and then try and slide those into their notches in the subframe, this is probably my best bet

So after abit more thought, I decided to tackle this again after school, i went out there with a plan and 5 minutes later freaked out my roommates proclaiming my victory!!!

Over 2 years in the making, by a bizarre coincidence it got installed 2 years to the day after I started this very build thread :crazy1:

I jacked up the engine from the bellhousing and rear of the block on the side we got into the engine mount already, just enough to release most of the tension off of the engine mount on the exhaust side, I loosened the engine mount and slide it up the subframe until the stud lined up and everything just dropped into place like a glove :)

So yesterday, loading the engine into the jeep ended up being easier then we expected, grabbed a bunch of parts, a big 1/2" piece of plywood to level out our path, and this is when we arrived at my house:

And then after some not so thoroughly thought out maneuvring, we broke one of the wheels! Luckily it was a quick fix:

I then decided before we took the engine off of the stand, we should see if we would actually be able to clear the engine bay, after putting the car back down on the ground, we realised it still wasn't even close to clearing!

So we decided we would have to work without the load leveler, which gave us just enough clearance.

So the work continued! I started packing some grease behind the pilot bearing, but that turned out being very difficult and messy, so I switched to the wet paper towel trick, and it worked like a charm!

After cleaning the crank and tapping in a new bearing (a short 3/4" drive extension + rubber mallet worked great for this) it was time for the flywheel, some arp's, red loctite, and the torque wrench and the flywheel was ready to go

Then we realised we had to put on the rear end plate :biglaugh: So the flywheel came off, the rear plate went on, and the flywheel was back in place. Some patience, and more red loctite (on the bottom 2 trans bolts and pressure plate) and we had a drivetrain ready for installation!

It started getting dark by the time we actually were getting the engine in the bay, which ended up being a very frustrating ordeal! This was the first engine I've ever installed so I ran out of ideas when things weren't falling into place correctly:

Much frustration and cursing followed this image lol

So we had to call it quits eventually, it was almost midnight, and I had alot of cleaning to do, and Kyle was getting pretty exhausted, he helped me out the entire day after driving home from Bellingham that morning, I can't thank him enough  ;)

So after a rest and some school I finally managed to get it in place alone, as described above, and here is where I stand now:

Engine is all bolted up, as well as the transmission, speedometer cable, and driveshaft.

There's still alot of work left to do, but after finals week is done, I don't think I'll be wasting too much time :D

Still need to send my '3000' pipe out for a IAT bung and then re-powder coated, I will probably end up waiting on that part

Time to buy a whole bunch of fluid!

Thanks :)

So my tial flange is leaking like crazy, and I think its because I bent the clamp while trying to install it... it wasn't even close to fitting until it started to bend

Any tips for installing a new clamp? I hope that will fix my problem even though it's a pretty strange design for a 'seal' they really should have added a O-Ring or something

Edit: ETS is FTW! They are sending me a new clamp free of charge, I will try and heat the next one up, any other tips are welcome

Fished all the electrical connectors including MAFT Pro and LC1 wiring into the cabin, time to find my ECU lol

Most of the electrical connections are all hooked up now

I also made one more oil hose today, just need two more, to and from the block, It's going to be really close if I have enough hose left...

I also got some Mobil 1 synthetic ATF (for P/S), 4 quarts of Redline MT90, 2 quarts Redline 75w90 for the diff, 12 quarts of Chevron SAE 30, and 6 NGK 2033's

Nice work man, havent been on here in a while.

Looked over your to do list and if you go buy the parts 1 day, you could have 90% of that stuff done on day 2.

BTW why are you keeping the stock 3000 pipe? I planned on doing that but realized why not just run 2.5 inch piping up to the TB and avoid the bottle neck? Any fastener store should have a bung with the thread pitch for your IAT sensor.

I like the cleanliness of your oil lines up front. Very well done looking forward to seing this car done.

Thanks Luis :) If I had all the parts, yes I probably could work a 12 hour day and get it done, but I'd rather take my time, pay attention to details, plus I have other things in my life to attend to ;) It's already been over 2 years, whats the rush? I'm shooting for no later then the end of July

I'm not keeping my 3000 pipe, thats why I put it in quotations, I simply meant my IC pipe that is replacing the 3000 portion. The problem isn't getting the bung, it's stripping the powdercoat, welding it on, and re-coating... I will be sending it to ETS to get done!

Good Job. I wish I had your oil lines.
I saw the fitment problem post, and knew you would work it out with a clear head.

Thanks Buck, whats stopping you though? ;)
I just needed to sleep on it, and having sunlight to work under definitely helped!

Thanks for the compliments on my oiling system guys, I am very proud of it as it's definitely the most custom feature about my car

I'll update that earlier to do list as I get stuff done

Today I finished my oil system (i will still need to take all the lines back off and double check they are clean, then tighten everything)
I also drained and filled my LSD, and discovered my trans drain plug is stuck... and I don't have anymore PBlaster... I'll save that for another day

Please excuse all the dirt in the pictures!! After I get a hood back on I'll wash the engine bay, theres no point now though...

Sure looks good with the wiring in place

Jag: I dunno why, but the tranny plugs always seem to sieze...

I used a jack under the wrench to loosen it, it sure beats busting your knuckles or fighting for leverage under the car...
