hey questions for everyone and this is in relation to this.

Are the Caminterchangeable?

Reason is that if they are i need two cams WITHOUT the cps gear :) No CPS, no need for gear. just a thought of course :)

I have a very legitament question that was never accurately answered ( 0r answered at all ) in this thread.

WHAT IS the largest cam profile I/WE could possibly run on the stock 7m valvetrain???

I have heard 250 duration??? Does that have anything to do with valve/piston/lift clearance or is that just how long the cam takes to rotate around to the lift point?? ( I know I am right there)....

what is the MAX LIFT???

Is that because there is so much more pressure on the shim itself?

I am putting in the Comp Cams valvesprings too....would this contribute to the possibility of having split shim syndrome Dr.??

What is the STOCK lift? I am thinking of 245 duration with 7mm lift....would that be on the brink with the valve springs?

-Jonathan

PS: I am not a valve/cam expert...thats a subject where I lack experiance. So any help is much appreciated! I am not affraid to admit my lack of intelegence there!:biglaugh:

In all reality they should be with the exception of the gear on the front of the exhaust cam. Our concern is keeping as many options open for all users. We can offer standard grinds: Stage 1 and Stage 2 but want to keep the options open for custom grinds. We want to offer as many options as possible. This includes gear/no gear as well as profiles.

Upgraded springs and retainers will help maintain valve float at higher rps but not help the issue with shims. We are trying to find a happy medium with lift and duration to find the limits.

I come from a land down under
Jon: The "Limits" Are when you have to notch the Pistons for Valve clearence but this would mean very a different custom ValveTrain to prevent Coil Bind.

I'm assuming this is after the Group A Style/Spec Cams and am waiting to hear back from Sloww66 on the Coil Bind issue when he mocks up his motor with the 12mm lift cams.

Ron: The indexing of the Cams will be different from IN to EX

Ron: It all depends on how they do the blanks ie: Full 360 degree lobes or rough Cam shaped lobes.

If they go for 360's it adds to the finishing costs and your Grinder won't be at all pleased (ask me how I know this ;) )

If they go for rough semi sized you'll need 2 blanks.

They can do a 360 grind but the question is will purchasing a single cam blank pay for itself with the additional machine work? That is dilemma we are up against.

True the head is here and the wheels are in motion. I won’t know more until we get word from the cam builder. That shouldn’t take long. I should know more by the end of today as to the status.

We are currently looking at the options for different profiles. One would be similar to the ill fated TRD cams and the second will be a little more aggressive “stage II” style. We want to make this an easy upgrade with little or no modifications needed. The stage I cams should be a direct swap but the stage II can be a little more difficult to fit. With the aggressive duration and lift, some machine work may be required but we would like to keep this to a minimum or eliminate the need all together.
