I dont think there's any possibility for a freeze plug to cause any of those issues is there? I know I removed my block heater because (a) I dont drive in winter and (b) it is just something to eventually disintegrate and cause issues...

My only issue with the machine shop saying "usually we find...". I much prefer "we have NEVER seen that before... we have to find out what it is to make sure it NEVER happens again".

I meant that it could have been worse. Block could have had a huge gouge in the wall, head could have been effed beyond repair. What about a valve shim?

So I'm looking at aftermarket headgaskets since I will more then likely need a thicker head gasket.
