Been working on some of the maintenance stuff, definitely need new cam seals, gonna order those up tomorrow. Anyone have a link/tips for replacing them? I've gotten spoiled with the MKIII TSRM being online...

Also, anything I need to be careful about with the timing belt tensioner? I wanted to make sure before I start prying on it and break something. Just not sure how to get the little pushrod thingy to go down so I can get the belt back on.

Gonna try and get all the prep done during this week and next and hopefully drop it in on the 15th or 16th if I don't break something snowboarding this weekend :)

Got the temp and knock sensors in but I'm stumped on the oil pressure sender. The 7M one doesn't fit where the 2j one was behind the A/C compressor. Looks like there may be another port farther back on the block but I wasn't sure.

Also tried to install my BIC brackets and realized I need shorter M10 bolts, stock 2j are 30mm, looks like I need a 20mm or 25mm :( Striking out tonight LOL.

Edit-I quit (for tonight) :icon_cry:. Was drilling the oil drain with my unibit and it caught the rag I was using to catch the shavings and flung them all over the place inside the upper pan  Don't feel like cleaning it out damn it...

You need the driftmotion line if you want to install the sensor there.

I have lots of POR15 left over if you want to paint your block

doh, will be adding that to my swap notes thread :). Didn't remember seeing that mentioned before, thanks...

I just went through 2 cans of brake cleaner and I think I've got most of the shavings out. Gonna pick up another tomorrow just to be sure. Horay for being a moron!!

Also tapped my fuel rail and installed it w/the stock 7M injectors. Figured it would be easier to leave everything stock and pass emissions at first and then put the 680s in and tune for E85. (lesson learned from the Escort) For some reason the 7M AFPR kit fittings don't thread into the 12x1.25mm holes I tapped, thought I remember reading that somewhere but I guess it's par for the course tonight lol.

The push is on, going to try and get everything ready to drop the motor in on Sunday :)
To do before then:
-finish cleaning pan and slap it back on
-make oil drain line
-cam seals, timing belt, tensioner
-figure out what size the Driftmotion 7M AFPR fittings are and retap the 2j rail
-wire the SOB up
-replace rear main seal
-put bellhousing on trans and install clutch/fw
-remove unnecessary P/S stuff from engine bay and install DM line (still trying to figure out WTF stays and goes)
-clean bay

If you're in Texas, you have no excuse!

Even worse if you live fairly close to Houston!!!

Josh, bring the Escort and piss off some people ;)

Mobes FTW!!

Jay-I'll just hop in your car, no engine = no A/C and I'm a pansy from the north :)

Poodles-Unfortunately the Escort got End Gamed after the last trip to the track. There are currently 2 puddles of oil and a coolant puddle under it lol. Also busted the mounting tab on another fuel rail, 100psi fuel pressure FTL... Need to make a brace so I don't bust my last remaining junkyard fuel rail. Haven't felt messing with it so I've been driving the 4-Runner :biglaugh:

My car doesn't have AC either, but I'm going to try and get that fixed before the hundred degree weather gets here this year.

In case anyone is wondering, the DM 7M AFPR fittings are 12x1.5mm thread. Hopefully I can retap my rail (originally went 12x1.25mm).

Haven't done anything else this week, been too busy and tired to mess with the car. Hopefully get alot done this weekend and get the motor in so I can start doing all the other stuff..

I'm not thinking this thing is going to be ready for Texas. This saddens me, well really I'm just sad thinking about Kristel's boobies sagging because Jake is taking so long on his build............

Even if it is I won't be there, haven't seen the wife in 3wks so I'll be in Lubbuttocks for the weekend... I'm shooting for tx2k9 :) Actually should have her all tuned up for the spring hill country cruise so we'll have another 3E5 MKIII in the crowd :D

Made a bunch of progress last night, just have a few more things to do today and I should be ready to drop the motor in later on this afternoon :) Also realized I have no way of connecting my fuel feed (yet another line I forgot to order) and that I don't have enough leftover push-on hose to make an oil drain so I've got a few more things to get...
