I had a 90 welded to my turbo as well. I didn't like the silicone coupling being that close to the manifold. Looking good so far. I know you're getting excited about driving it now. I took my pistons and rods to the shop this morning to have my block rebuilt with +.040 pistons. I'm about two or three weeks away from driving mine again, and I can't wait.

P.S................OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Jay, I've been watching your build, sounds like things are coming together. Hopefully we can meet at TX2k9 with running cars :) Finger is still black but it's back to only about 1.5x it's normal size...

I had a great time at Texas except for that whole breaking four pistons thing so I'm planning on going back next year. Hope to see you there.

I'm now the proud owner of the most expensive 3/8" manifold spacer in the world :) A friend at work and I spent a bit of time today taking 1/4" off of my 5/8" spacer (slow day). Including overhead the cost was about $150 :) Be home around 8 tonight to try it out (fingers crossed)... Once I get the IC pipes situated I'll be ready to button everything else up and hopefully get 'er running this weekend :D

Also going to look at a potential GRM $2008 challenge car Saturday, '78 Z that we'd probably drop a SBC in (LS or LT if we can find one cheap enough). Original plan was to do an Escort but for whatever reason we can't find one cheap and my wife won't let me strip hers out :(

the iron block LS motors they put in trucks take to the same mods as the normal LS1's do...

they're a bit heavier though...

I doubt I'd go to the austin cruise, my car is looking worse and worse (don't ask, long story...)

IC piping is a b!tch!! I couldn't get things situated with the hotside running up top but I think I did figure out a path that would work but it's going to require flipping the thermostat housing and using a different lower rad hose... Taking a break before I throw something:3d_frown:

you need another bend in the hose

Turn the top coupler so the hardpipe goes straight down, then angle it back towards the front. It can't be riding on the sway bar!

Here's a pic of my cooleeze pipes (the on on the right is the hotpipe) if it helps...

P.S.
Paint is fading, both fenders are dented to hell, hood is peeling clearcoat even worse, got another exhaust leak under load (shouldn't leak as the bastard head is helicoiled with upgraded studs), exhaust is on the way (yay!), my dad backed into my car and put a nasty dent in the door, and broke my mirror...

I think I'm gonna go carbon fiber for the theme for my car, as it means less painting for me LOL

CF eh? Hope no one else backs into you :) The pipe actually has a decent amount of clearance at the swaybar, I got 'em all figured out. Jon came over and made me a throttle cable and then we went to the local Sat night meetup, made me want to have the car done baaad...

If I qould quit with the stupid ass body damage and other things happening nad actaully be able to save for some mods...

There is a first gen Viper in the community across the way, and the guy is ALWAYS jacking with me. THey only have 400HP, so I'm pretty sure if I could get my hands on the TD06 setup with a Lexus AFM, 550's, a boost controller, and an SAFC i could easily kick his ass and wipe the stupid grin from his face...

LOL, be even better with all the body damage ;)

Got a good deal on a PWR radiator today, getting ready to head out and order a 2jzgte lower rad hose and a 7M heater hose to finish out the cooling system (hopefully by the end of this week). Just when I think I'm close I find 10 more things that need to be done and 5 more parts that need to be ordered :biglaugh: I also realized this morning that my turbo doesn't have a pressure fitting on it for the WG so I guess off it comes again...

Just an FYI for anyone doing this swap, both Yankiwi and Hottscennessy have problems with their cars running hot on the highway so it looks like a larger Al radiator is probably a must with this swap.

BTW-If anyone needs an almost new stock Toyota radiator/shroud/fan&clutch setup mine will be up for sale shortly. Any suggestions on a fair price would be appreciated...

watch the clearance on the PWR radiator, some people have broken fans because it's so thick...

though it seems you're not going the manual fan route...

Got the coils mounted on the firewall tonight and yanked some wires out of my old 7M harness to finish out the wiring (TPS, ISCV extension, alt harness). Figured I'd share some pics...

Starting to look like an actual engine bay:

Tight clearance near the turbo, should be ok though:

Jon came over yesterday and helped me finish up the wiring, also figured out how to splice the 2j TPS into the 7M harness:
p5100086zw2.jpg

Ground: Brn/Blk(2j) to Brn(7M)
Idle Sw: Red(2j) to yel/blue (7M)
BCC: Blue/Red to Blue/Red
Signal: Yellow(2j) to Wht/Red(7M)

For anyone running the China special 2j downpipe (or anything that requires a thread-in o2 sensor), a 3-wire sensor from a 5.0 Mustang will fit the bill (I used an '89 GT).

Bosch wiring is:
Signal = Black
Heater (x2) = White (no polarity according to Bosch's tech specs)

On the Yellow Plug harness Wires are:
White = signal
Red/Blue = HT signal from ECU
Brown/Red = "B" which I assume is a power signal? Also tied to B+ at the check connector

Based on this I think the wiring should be:
Black (Sensor) to White (7M Harness)
Red/Blue and Brown/Red to the white wires on the sensor

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks guys! The big power will come soon enough, for now I'm running stock MKIII injectors and will keep the boost around 11psi while I work the bugs out...

Here are some pics (listen to the video and look at them since I can't change the video orientation:biglaugh:)

Good job on the rebuild. I should have mine on the road this week as well.
I'll be here waiting patiently for the tire roasting videos..............:icon_bigg
