Few questions for you smarty-pantses:
1. What's the best way to get the dowel pins out of the flywheel for machining? Other cars I've worked on you can get to the back of them and hammer 'em out but the flywheel ring gear is in the way on the 1j fw
2. Where can I get a dowel pin (Toyota?), one of the ones on my fw is bent
3. Is the 1j and 7m throwout bearing hub the same? I forgot to pull the 7m one off when I sold my clutch but I have the one from the clutch off the 1j fw.

Thanks!

Throw out bearing stuff is the same for either motor.
Dowel pin is part 90250-08054, looks like it fits damn near every Toyota built.

I was just thinking about getting them out. You might just pull them with a vice grip and replace them all. They list at $0.94 each so if you can find them locally it might be the most logical option.

Josh: when I had my flywheel resurfaced, they had the tool that pulls the pins out.

One of mine was bent as well, local dealer had em in stock and it was the cheapest I've EVER gotten out of the dealer. Think it was a little over a dollar for all 3...

Thanks guys, I'll call my friends at Champion Austin tomorrow. And in case anyone is wondering, the 1jz flywheel is stepped to make sure whoever does your machining knows that!!

Lance-will do, let me know if you need any 7M stuff for your car too, I still have a bunch of crap in my garage I'll practically give to you :)

7M flywheel is also stepped. Take it do a place that can properly grind it and not turn it on a lathe.

My other flywheel appears to not have had the backstep machined, wonder why my clutch failed (bastards)

Dropped the f/w off a little while ago, place actually had different prices for stepped and non-stepped flywheels so I know it'll get done right :) Local dealer had the dowel pins in stock, they were a ripoff as usual (total was ~$8 for the pins) but I got 'em...

Also kind of curious if anyone thinks I'll have issues with my oil feed routing over the exhaust housing:

It will work (I mean, mine fit without rotation), but mines such a PITA to take off once installed that in the year I've had this setup I havn't had a chance to take it off and re-weld it.

For mine, in order to take off the manifold, you have to take off the turbo AND the wastegate, same for installation. The WG is the worst because you can only get to it from the bottom. Just take my advice and fix it now :).

You only hear the bad...never the good...thats the way retail works

The Block-Off plates are on the shelf and ship out the same day(((unless ordered on the weekend at 11:30 at night)))

Sorry for the hijack, but just wanted everyone to know that Jack did as he promised. I received my intercooler bop today and it's shiney as can be.

Mustang EDIS 8 plug wires, fit 7M coilpacks and out of the 8 you can make a set that allows mounting the coilpacks on the firewall:

Not sure when I'll get around to installing stuff, life has a way of getting in the way of supra time...

YOu got a picture of where you tapped the oil for the turbo from?
