Car is running pretty damn well now, needs mo tunin' though. Put a tank of E85 in and tweaked the AFC some while I could actually see AFRs etc. Tried 4 different combos of laptops and usb to serial adapters and was able to get a little bit of tuning done but it took long as shit (yes it's 3:45AM here) because of ports stopping working, blue screens, you name it. Need to find a laptop with a damn serial port...

Wanted to try and get it e-tested in the AM, but I have no idea what my idle AFR is so I need to get the laptop workin' first...

Woot! Laptop worked flawlessly this morning, guess someone was just trying to tell me to get my ass to bed lol. I'm a little loopy from only 3hrs of sleep but I could care less. Did WOT runs in 3rd and tuned all the way to work today, pullin like a freight train at 10-11psi. Goin to the inspection station at lunch, wish me luck lol.

So question-I can't get my idle richened up anymore by adjusting fuel pressure.

I've got it set at about 45psi with the vac line off (remember, E85 with 680cc injectors) and my idle afr is ~18:1, if I go higher the AFR actually gets leaner. Any ideas?

you might be too rich actually. what happens when you lean idle or reduce fuel pressure? if it richens up that means you are severly over tuned but on 680 and 45 psi base (should be 43.5 as that = 3 bars) should be close enough not that lean. Can't you adjust the idle portion to richen it up some?

If I reduce fuel pressure it stays the same at first and then will lean out more as I get closer to 25psi. I was thinking about adjusting the idle with the SAFCs low thrtl settings using a 0% set point but I've heard that causes issues because it interpolates between there and the hi point at 70% throttle.

Woot, passed emissions on the first try! It was close but I scathed by on the rough tune. One of the tech's took some pics of my engine bay too which was pretty cool. Also got a free carwash/vac/interior clean, figured I'd take a couple pics since this is the cleanest it's ever been and probably ever will be:

Congrats on the emissions test.

Did you get your afr's better at idle? When I had to tune mine with the afc and it worked great.

Yea, it's alot better now at idle and cruise. The ECU freaks out a little every time the ratio of gas to E85 changes since o2 sensor readings change, but it smooths out over time as it learns. Had the same problem on the Escort, alot better once I got all the gas out of the tank and was putting straight E85 in every time.

Good news is that I can actually run it on either, flex fuel Dok style ;)

Next up is regapping the plugs, cranking the boost and tuning, and cleaning up a few things that I rushed before the cruise. Hopefully get it on the dyno in the next few weeks and head to the track :D Also buying Jon's nightpager kit and upgrading the front brakes because nailing hot stock MKIII brakes at 130 scared the shit outta me :biglaugh:

Some pics from the Cruise this weekend, luckily somebody took some of my car because I didn't, spent enough time under the hood to have everything memorized:nono:
