Ok. Things have been moving along pretty quickly. All of my new IC pipe has been welded up and some installed already. I ran out of vac line again so I decided to stop there for the evening.

Here's a shot of the new version 3k pipe. It previously had a 45* coupler to make the bend. Now it's a nice piece of mandrel bend.

I was on 'Mission Protection' today. I did a lot of this type of stuff. Protecting various hoses and anything that I didn't want ruined from rubbing.

p1531199_2.jpg

And here's a current engine bay shot. Not much left! Only the Driveline, Drive Belts, Battery, and Fluids. Key turning maybe tomorrow!

Ok. Well..........I just came back in the house without a good report. She won't fire. The problem is the COP's. Tomorrow I'll swap the ugly stock coil pack in so I can drive the car until I modify the COP's to fit properly.

I suspect that the problem is that they do not sit down far enough. I don't know how others made this mod work without removing material from the head. I'll investigate that later on. As for now......I want this beast on the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Awsome job on the car btw, i just spent the last 2hours reading this entire thread and it was
totally worth it. Your definitely a perfectionist and pay close attention to detail, i love it haha =]

I got 1 question though, why did you not paint the exhaust manifold? any particular reason?

Nice hose covering. Does it come in black as well?

Also, my cop sit on the plugs with zero brackets. ;)

Thanks for the kind words! Yeah, being a perfectionist has its downfalls. If you know what I mean. ;)

I didn't paint the manifold because I'd rather have a nicely rusty colored one than one that is peeling paint. ;) I should've sent it off for ceramic coating; but, got pressed for time. Plus, I've been toying with the idea of getting a tubular one.

If you're referring to the covering over the SS hose, it's some of the Gates Push Lock hose that I had left over. I bought it from DM and yes...it comes in black. ;)

I don't know what the difference is between your COP's and mine; but, there's no way I'd run mine without brackets. They sit in there all cock-eyed as it is. I wouldn't trust them against bumps and vibrations.

Mine are 2J coils and simply go on the plugs and are sitting there like wobbles. :)

Well, I took the COP's off and put the stock coil pack on and VROOOOOOM!!!! She fired right up so something is hinky with the COP's.

A couple of problems since the startup...

#1 The Power Steering pump won't pump fluid.

#2 There is a substantial leak coming from the exhaust side cam seal.

I won't be able to get back to her till next week sometime. Hopefully before mid-week so I can be driving her by the weekend.

Thanks Ron!

Here are a couple things I added here recently; but, didn't post pics till now. The first is a Power Steering Filter. It'll be hidden by the Intake Pipe.

Then the exhaust wasn't hanging right because of the angle of the new turbo. So.......spacers had to be added to hold the exhaust over far enough to keep it from hitting the transmission mount.

Nice pics. Is the PS filter necessary? How you gonna fix the pump problem? Think it's related to the relocation of the reservoir?

The N/A Res doesn't have a filter screen in it like the Turbo one does. So yes, the filter is necessary. This particular filter is the magnetic type.

I'm pretty sure that the pump just needs to be bled of air. I just haven't had time to get to it yet.

Yep. I just came inside... :)

I found my leak. I can't believe what it was. It was the stupid cam seal on the exhaust side. There was this weird bulge right where the seal meets the front of the cam. There was no debris there so I can only assume that the seal was defective. I installed the new one and all is good!

The pump has been purged of air per the TSRM and is fine so far.

New problem tho! As soon as the thermostat opened, she started leaking terribly from the thermostat housing. Since she was hot, I decided to leave it and attack that in the morning. Once that's done, I'll take her for a spin! Woo Hoo!!

Yeah that happened to me once, my thermostat housing leaked like crazy. I got ghetto and patched it with RTV sealant, lol. I wouldn't do that again. It did work, but it looked like crap and was a pain to clean off. I hope you get that fixed and get to take it for a spin. Also, heres to hoping against any further issues (for me too!).

Yeah, it was a pain; but, I got it fixed and didn't need to use any RTV! ;)

Ok, well she backed out of the garage and made it for a short cruise. And she did this ALL under her own power! :biglaugh:

Here's a shot of her all buttoned up.

And a little bit tighter view of the Intake and IC Pipe...
