rs4 - I plan on pulling my 7M in 2 weeks or so, then I will have the harness off that and wire it onto the 2J.

I plan on documenting it all, with lots of pics. Hopefully it will be useful for others in the future.

I was almost thinking of doing a 2JZ-GE swap with 7M electronics. Then I woke up and found out how fragile the old 7M's harness was.

Nice build.

Thanks for the comments guys...

Today's job was AC. Living in Houston makes AC mandatory, it's too damn hot:aigo:

I took the top housing off my spare 7M compressor, it bolts right onto the 2JZ compressor. The 2JZ compressor has a sensor on the bottom, with an associated second plug. I don't need this for my 7M wiring so I cut the wires. The 7M harness only has the one power wire, so I cut the wire off my 7M comp and soldered it to the 2JZ comp, now it has the right plug to plug into my 7M body harness.

I test fitted the comp on the block, it is pretty tight. I am going to have to see when I put the motor in if I can get the lines on the top of the compressor. The 2JZ power steering pump is VERY close to the top of the compressor. I measured the hard lines in my car, they sit about 1 1/4inch from the top of the comp, I have 1 1/4 inch between the power steering bracket and the top of the comp!!!!

Worst case I will grind down part of the P/S bracket. I also may use an oil filter relocation kit, this will give me plenty of room at the back of the compressor for the hard lines. I think it will fit as is, but we will see when it is in the car.

Here's the 2JZ comp on the left with 7M top housing on. Rewired with 7M wires.

I always unbolt the A/C compressor from the block before I pull the engine, so I'd install it first than bolt it on to the block...

Recharging it is going to be a nightmare as the low side fitting is on the top of the compressor...

Yep, I do the same poodles, when I don't want to lose the charge.

This time I don't care as no matter what, I have to pull the lines from my current compressor and fit them to the top of this hybrid JZ compressor. So a vacuum and recharge will be required.

As for recharging, it will be easy, the black port in the 3rd pic is the low side, it points out to the side...very accessible.

Shawn,

I had some spare time so I got right into it!! Things will slow down over the next 2 weeks as I am on vacation. When I am back it will be on...I want to finish up before the end of november.

OK, back from vacation.

Had one day before going back to work so I started to mock up my fuel lines and AFPR. Trying to decide where I want to mount it.

Fuel is gonna be 550's fed by -6 line, with my already installed walbro. Using an Aeromotive 13109 AFPR.

I tapped the stock FPR mounting hole to 12x1.25mm, then got 2 12x1.25 to -6 adapters as the feed in the rail is already that size. 90deg hose ends off both. I have bling stainless braid lines, so I will see how many holes I can put in my fingers trying to put the hose ends on!!! I have some -10 stuff for the turbo oil drain, and some -4 stuff for oil feed so I will get plenty of practice making lines.....

Here is an easy couple hundred bucks of fittings/hose etc...it adds up quick.

Here is the rail mocked up to ensure clearance for the feed/outlet.

Question.
I have never used a V-band before, I understand no gasket is required?? I can't see how I would put one on if I needed to anyway. I mocked up my downpipe to get an idea of how I need to move the wastegate flange, I plan on rerouting the dump to the D/P.

More next week when I get off work again..........

Slow progress lately...

Ironic thing is while I am trying to replace my 7M my daily driver gets rod knock:aigo: Haha, I have had a 7M for 7 years and never got the knock...I guess my solara was too close to the supra in the garage and caught the knock instead!!!

Here's why the supra has not been touched this week.

Fully rebuilt 1MZ in my solara.

On a supra related note I got my shiny BOV from Aaron today. Driftmotion FTW.

I have a few spare days next week so more progress then.

I got the Racing Type II from Aaron...

he's gotten a lot of my money recently LOL

still working on getting it to not surge (I won't even see boost on the gauge and it will do a bit of the surge when I shift), but if I boost quite a bit it blows off fine...
