Shawn, I knew I would doom myself when I put a time frame on this project:biglaugh:

Work has owned me lately, when I started this I had lots of spare time but I have been out of the country a lot lately. I am off to Dubai again next month so I won't have any time until the end of December.... So depending on where my job goes this project will either start again in late December, or I will be having a huge partout and moving to Dubai.

But, this project is easily doable, the 2JZGE-T can be run on 7M electronics, I haven't stopped because its difficult, I just have no time right now.

Yeah, Dubai is OK. I am kinda undecided on whether I want to live there or not..but the $$$ on offer is very good. I will decide in December. I've never been to Qatar but the whole middle east area is a pretty different lifestyle than Houston, that's for sure!!

Just some advice from my experience - you will probably have to re-clock the flange for the wastegate-to-manifold and weld on a 90 degree cast elbow to the turbo compressor outlet. Be careful in how you do it though and dont do it until you have the motor in the car and secure. I had very little room to play with, but then again I have a heat-wrapped 4" downpipe.... YMMV

The outlet of my GT42 went right into the frame. The only way to fit it was to weld on a cast 90. I got mine from Precision Turbo.

Motor looks very good! I like the integration of the A/C. A lot of people just ditch it.

Bringing it back from the dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, without boring you all with my life, I am back into this project. Came close to having to sell everything I own and move to a different country, but I am gonna stay in Houston..for now... I need to stop setting deadlines, but I am going to try and have this done in time for TX2K8:aigo:

Today, I made the flanges for my turbo oil drain and some EGR blockoff plates. No pics cause I think everyone knows what they look like....

Tomorrow will be the last day a 7M sits in my soop:cry: Its been good to me over the years (except for the 2 BHG's and now rod knock!!) Look out for a 7M part out starting tomorrow.............

Not much progress on the 2JZ this week. Instead I spent my time saying goodbye to the 7M:cry:

It's out now so next week when I get a few days off work I will start moving the 7M harness/sensors over to the 2JZ. I will try and document it with pics so it might help some of you guys thinking about doing this in the future.

Getting pretty quick at pulling motor's now, I think this is the 5th time!!!

OK, a little more progress today...

I replaced the front main seal, and put on a new timing belt and tensioner pulley.

Also pulled the harness off the 7M and started to figure out which wires will go where. I moved the ECU coolant sensor and the temp gauge sender from the 7M to the 2JZ block. They are on the thermostat neck on the 7M, and they are now under the intake on the 2JZ. Same thread etc so its easy.

Original 2JZ sensors.

Next job is to get the harness to fit nice, it will need some wires cut and some lengthened. I will take pics as I go.........

More stuff....

Installed the CPS today, you have to make a new 'hole' to line it up with the bolt in the 2JZ head. Not to difficult and once its done it fits right in.

First two pics are from the front, with the new hole, and then from the side. I had to grind down a ridge to make a flat surface for the timing nut to sit flat.

Then one pic of it installed. I think it is in right. If I remember from last time it sits off a bit when the engine is at TDC..............

I started on the various braided lines today as well. I have lots of holes in my fingers now:1zhelp:

I have made the fuel lines up as far as I can, I will finish them when the motor is in and I can get accurate lengths....

Here's a pic of the -10 oil return. There is not much room from the bottom of the turbo with the manifold runners in the way, but it fits and doesn't rub on anything.

Also got my clutch from CK

I need to drive to Champion tomorrow and get a 1JZ flywheel, then the motor is about ready to drop in. I am waiting on my Maftpro so I will leave the harness off until I wire that in.

The harness is complete, I did quite a lot of soldering to make it nice. Repaired some old wires and cut/lengthened the rest to fit the new sensor locations on the 2JZ. I will give a detailed write up of the harness when it is installed and I take pics to make it all clearer.....

I love this swap..
I am just not confident enough to go through with it because wiring, sensors, tapping oil lines, fitting oil lines, and other things like that scare me. :(
