I'm still slacking. No vids or pics as of yet. I did do a little polishing tho.

I'm about to pick up some wheels for my whip for what seems to be a great deal. I was wondering how badly some 9.5" wide wheels with a +40 offset would look in the rear? Would it be terribly sunken in, or just alright? Anything a quality spacer could fix?

Edit:
Here is a pic of what I'll probably be picking up, cleaning, polishing the lip, and painting the spokes a gunmetal.

those look like cobra rims for a mustang...they dont look too sunk in on one, i doubt a spacer will be needed for the look.

yea, they do look like Cobra wheels, they're made by Zeit. They're 17x8.5 +35 offset in the front, and 17x9.5 +40 offset in the rear. I started to compare them to other peoples setups and I really think they'll be nice. Worst case scenario, I'll have to get a spacer for like you said.. "the look". Either way the fitment will definately be better than what I'm running now.

Anyone have recommendations for tires. I want to run 235 40 17 in the front, and 275 40 17's in the rear... and I really don't want to spend too much money. Let's say a $500 max for tires (thinking reasonably).

Ive come to believe that Toyo Proxe 4s are an all around great tire, possibly the best. You know that means something coming from someone who lives in an extremely rainy state. Really sticky on dry pavement, and i believe a 100 treadwear rating. I think your sizes will work great too! I may go with a +42 offset in the rear...risky but worth it.

Now about the tires.. what do you guys think?
I could get Falken Azenis (R) Kuhmo Supras (F) - $511 Shipped
I could try the Generals all around- $432 Shipped
(these are for 275,40,17 and 245,40,17)

I just got some toyo tr-1s for the rear (265/35/18) on my supe. It was raining when I got them, and going about 40 I dropped from 5th to 2nd to leap-frog some traffic and it was 100% grip all the way through 2nd and most of 3rd. Almost no road noise either in the dry. 600 balanced and installed. I'm comparing them to Pirellis and BFgoodrich, and I'm thoroughly impressed.

if you end up getting kumho's, i would spend a couple bucks more on the tires and get the kumho ecsta MX over the kumho ecsta supras

Nice man, good luck with it, I'll have to check the vid out. I'm not sure about the ECU, I thought that you were running a 2JZGE, why would you want to run the 2JZGTE ECU, then you'd have to drop a whole lot of money on coils, converting to the GTE's CPS, injectors, wiring harness, ignitor etc.?

BTW I posted in your vid thread, bro.. that AFM is VERY fishy to me.

well i rather not stay with the 7m auto ECU for my r154. but i wasn't sure how much i'd have to change with a GTE ECU. yea im not sure about the AFM.

OHHH, It's running off a 7MGE ECU, that explains the flapper AFM. As long as you have the 7MGE Injectors in that motor you should be Ok. I think you need to check your codes and see what the ECU says is wrong..
