I'd do it outside of the car. To make this clean/proper youre gonna have to unwrap the aristo harness and run stuff through it. You still have the stock harness uncut? I lost your number, new phone.
If you wanna keep the ecu in the engine bay, yeah, probably. But will take considerable work to make look clean. And I'm not a fan of the ecu in the bay. The IS/GS/x110/jzs171 etc had a ventilation into the ecu area. Gonna keep the drive by wire ems?
the injectors do have a ground circuit. it's called pin e01 on the ecu. it needs to go to ground on the intake with the other grounds, and it should if you left all the stuff together that should be when doing a proper swap. This provides the external ground circuit for the injectors. When it's...
^ where in austin/what do you drive? Both my gf and I daily a 1j car
OP, check that coils/injectors/ignition have power at key on, if they all do, check for spark. Can set the coil packs against the cam covers/head/whatever and have someone crank it. go from there, report back
OP, non vvti is so much cheaper to build, and tune. Seriously cheaper. cost me about 500 more to do just because of the manifold and unless you're on standalone you might not get the best out of it.
I had a vvti 1j running a he341 (same wheels as hy) and it did 342whp at 5400rpm when it hit fuel cut, completely untuned. did that as just a baseline. My gf's non vvti 1j sc did 285whp@6200rpms yesterday on 10psi pig rich with the same turbo. I wrecked the vvti car about a year ago and the...
I'm not positive if it will work, but I know some of the older camrys and mr2s (even n/a) have a map sensor of some sort. Being that they're GE, I would give one of those a try since you can get em cheap at a junkyard. They're located on the firewall on both cars iirc, wanna say passenger side...
No excuse, lithium. Get a jz and you'll have more time to enjoy your car.
Ray, see you there, I'm the silver/white Cressida, prob be parked with The sc's.
What, you need someone to hold your hand? Here's the equation:
Internet + reading/comprehension = running vvti swap
Obviously you have Internet, so I'd work on the second part of the equation
Not all vvti 1jz's are drive-by-wire. ALL jzx100 are non dbw. And they have IACV too. JZX110 is dbw...
The "capped" plug you need to leave alone.
The 2 ecu plugs that are just pigtails will probably only need about 8-10 pins out of them
The square plug with the two bigger pins in it most likely has all the injector, ignition, etc power sources in it
The rectangular one with the pigtail probably...
^ge internals are supposedly weaker, but gte is gte goodness.
OP, if you want autox, this is definitely the engine you want. Lighter than a 2jz, and like the other dude said, torque down low. Especially with a stock turbo. Thing will come on like gang busters til you need to make the next...
