I realize that it would anodize in different shades but IMO the point of making your IC black is really only to hide it, not to make it look "better." Anodize is also one of the only ways to keep from insulating the IC. If there is a paint that actually helps transfer the heat BETTER then that...

Can you get a picture? If they were doing transmission work then I'm sure that they pulled the DP off. And the nuts on the studs (either the turbo or the elbow) always come off easier if you heat the up first, from my experience.

I think he means the engine is missing. Is it just at idle or through the whole rpm range?
