No he balanced, polished, and fit/measured all mains. Complete check on the bottom end with flywheel and bolts. He documented all the numbers for me. will post tomorrow. I think Iam definetly going to get the blocked decked then.
Tell you tomorrow, left the paperwork at work. Everything was still in stock spec still. Any idea on the pitting around the water jacket holes on the block. Also how much is too much to take off the block. 2mm MHG going on.
Finally got everything back from the machine shop. Crank and head look great, however the block I think is going back to get decked. They didnt do much to it and that worries me.
I noticed something around the cooling viens, a little bit of pitting. How much of a problem will that be...
real estate, bought a house two years ago and I am selling it this month for twice as much as I bought it for. Over $130K profit. So I figured if I was going to do this, do it right.
However, I dont think the W58 tranny is going to hold up more than a couple months if that.
Starting to get parts back from the machine shop. Got the pistons and rods back, rings installed.
Get the block and head back on Friday.
One question, the oil pump drive shaft has two bearings, the machine shop said they have to install them because of alignment. Any experience on these...
Yup didnt want to break the bank on the wheels or tires. Wanted something that would be a little lighter, compliment the color (dark blueish purple), and be able to find tires easy. Settled on these Weapon wheels and Kumho tires. 275/17/9 rear and 235/17/8 front.
Here is a pic of the solid...
Pictures of the Walbro 255 and new pump holder since i broke the old taking it off. Block and head should be back from the machine shop this week. A bit of a hold up since I was number 3 in line.
On the back of the new pump holder there is what looks to be a resistor or ground maybe? Any...
BTW, Iam no expert on tuning cam gears but know enough to be dangerous. Hope there are some experts (or self-proclaimed experts) on here that have some experience with the 7M and tuning the cams.
Before you do anything with the cam or gears, ensure your valve clearance is good and check the clearance on your valve buckets and shims. Basically, get it to a baseline and then start playing with it. Also, its not going to change a huge difference but when you start getting up there in...
Good to see a discussion on here that is going to help tune our cars, instead of the damn "which Spark Plugs to buy" threads. I fricking hate them albiet Iam new to the 7M myself, I have worked some engines in my day and dont need help buying spark plugs.
"opening the lobe centers", you just explained lobe separation angle to anyone that was guessing. The angle between the lobe centers makes LSA, which can you can use to reduce valve overlap, open or close valves earlier etc. in return you get more power and torque.
