    The Small Questions Thread

Depends on a lot of things. Did coolant enter the oil or did you drive with the BHG? Contaminated oil can teak out bearings. Usually if you catch it in time everything is fine. The 7m is a strong runner.

7mgte cold start injector time switch question

Kk, thought so, just wasn't sure when it engaged because the sensor is on the thermostat housing. Figured that it would turn the cold injector on during start at a specific block temp and then not engage the injector when starting a warm engine. Starts fine at 10 Celsius and 0c = 32f. Figured...

7mgte cold start injector time switch question

My son drives my Red 88 (bought it for him). Its going to go to -30'ish C this winter and he may drive it off an on (minimally) as a "between-city" car so I may have to replace it. Gonna be cold this winter in Canada I think. I was worried because it sends a signal to the ECU which turns on...

    Notorious M.K.3.

Yeah.. Im not much into rappers.. lol. Im old school Tragically Hip, Peter Gabriel, Phil Collins... you know.. the boring stuff without swear words and violence. Thinking back on it, Im really glad you didn't sell your car. It's pretty well a pinnacle of success in MK3 rebuilds. I have seen a...

7mgte cold start injector time switch question

The sensor /switch on my JDM 7mgte sits on topof the coolant thermostat housing right beside the head. It broke while doing some cam gear work so if I plug it in the car won't start. Unplug it and the car starts and runs fine. This is like 265.00 for the replacement sensor so I am wondering...

Nice!! How do you improve on those 3 firsts.. rofl. Looks like you achieved the dream most of us have. Next year when I show up, I wont be pulling prizes (probably wont have the interior) but will be good to see this car in person. I just love that car. Funny how my head plays that...

how does my parts list look???

I believe Forged pistons have more expansion (hence the extra space) and I have heard up to 5 thou clearance on them. (which is why sometimes they can clatter a little) Looking forward to seeing this one put together : )

how does my parts list look???

Not sure on the Forged Pistons cost (if you want I can give you Chris' number and you can call and ask if they can make them for you). They are not truly needed, but it does take into account how the engine was designed with the offset wrist pin on the piston. Apparently the firing force is...

how does my parts list look???

Clutch choice is tough. Personally I would never use a SPEC clutch again and Im not a fan of ACT clutches. I haven't had one other than OEM that I like and you will not be going that route. Ultimately I want to go OS Geiken for mine, but that's a huge expense.. and may not be worthwhile as I...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

I got Brembo non slotted, non drilled rotors. 200.00 a piece up here.. but they wear very very well. I have never had an issue with warped brakes on any Supra I have owned. Mind you, I usually do the brakes first thing when I buy them (unless they were new and I haven't seen that yet.. lol). A...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Generally speaking our cars have an excellent braking system, but you should do a little research on the correct method of doing the brakes. Little things mean a lot. If your rotors are still within spec you can have them turned for about 10-15 bucks per rotor. At the very least you can scuff...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Okay I'm going to say something... Your comment about doing both sides because "it comes with 4 pads" scares the crap out of me. The brakes are never done single sided... Always in pairs and if you don't understand that, quite honestly get a professional to do them. It's the one component of...

I'm planning on going to SILV next year. My interior won't be in, but the car will be drivable for the trip. There are a few of us planning to come from Alberta as a group for it. Looking forward to your photos. I don't recall my undercover looking like yours. Mines an 88, maybe that one is...

how does my parts list look???

The one thing I wished I had done other than going with Wiseco forged pistons is to let Reg Reimer at RCTS build my pistons. He does the wrist pins the same as the OEM pistons with a slightly offset bore to account for knock. Then you have less worry about forged pistons setting off the knock...
