There is suppose to be a ground from the coil pack to the head. Are you sure you did figure out those wires? You may want to re-check that. as far as the ECU goes, have you smelled it? Check to see if you can smell a burnt smell. I doubt it is your ECU, but being sure always give you the upper hand.

I had an extra alternator belt I cut it and wrapped it around it, then I just kind of put it around the sway bar and held it while I torqued it down.
