Dave, it sounds to me like your trying to get away with a new powerplant on the cheap. With this car, that is the wrong way to approach things. Be prepared to dump in thousands of dollars. There's no way around it. Sure, you can have a JDM 7M for around a grand and drop that it. But it'll leak...
I stand corrected.
On a side note, I'd try to retain all factory bracing if you can. I know personally I was able to keep the intake manifold brace and the lower exhaust manifold brace. However, with my aftermarket turbo and blanket, there's nowhere to connect either the upper or lower turbo...
We can't all source magnesium Group A pans IJ. Ya braggin bastard. ;)
I stopped by the dealership and grabbed the bolt and washer. The washer is rather nice. Metal with rubber on both sides and under $2.
Are you saying the J-tube isn't there or connected to the fuel system, yet there is no block-off plate? I'm confused.
If it is there and has the fuel lines connected; leave it. It is not a restriction if you aren't upgrading your fuel system. The purpose of the J-tube is as a fail-safe to keep...

Dammit, I meant "correction, right side".
Where's my damn coffee?!!

My local dealer says those part numbers are what most current Toyota models use for their oil pan drain plug. And they even stock...
Correction, left side. No, not sure where I'd find that in the TSRM. I didn't realize Toyota offered a plug. There must be dozens of aftermarket options out there. Just wondering what everyone else has been using?
I went with an oil filter relocation kit and a larger cooler, but now I need to plug the line return on the left side of the oil pan. Since I don't believe the threads are NPT, I'll need a plug with a rubber seal. Can anyone point me in the right direction as I don't know the exact size or...
I always thought that the main draw to ball bearing turbos wasn't so much for the slight increase in spool time, but rather the reduced lag between shifts since the wheel doesn't slow down as much? Either way, they are much more expensive and less reliable to the journal bearing turbos.
I'm kinda glad to see all the interested buyers. This car is bringing some serious money for an almost 20 year old import. The bidders definitely know the scarceness of a 92 shadow grey turbo with basically no miles. Too bad it's not a manual tho. I bet that would bring in an extra 20%.
Tell me about it IJ. It's one of the main reasons I quite drinkin and tinkering ;)
I didn't even bother hooking that blue/white wire back into the battery. Do I even need to? I mean, it gets power off of the wire that I have connected to the alternator. What would be the point of plugging a...
Yep. I'm a dumbass. Plugged in the EFI fuse and it was christmas. :)
Everything juiced-up except the HKS TEMS Controller. I'll have to run that power wire to it I guess.
Nick, I already have the wiring diagram. I did just realize something and now I feel stupid. I had the EFI fuse pulled for safety (no oil in crankcase). So that would explain why everything spliced into the ECU isn't powering on. However, I don't see how this would affect the TEMS controller. I...
Most just leave them at 12 o clock and use something like the GCC or AFC to tune. I have heard that the idle knob sometimes needs adjustment when it's cold out in order to smooth out idle. Why do you feel you need to adjust it? Is your vehicle not running right? Are you attempting to increase...
So I tested all of my grounds and they are good, but I still can't get any power to the ECU. I am not using the original power wire coming off of the battery. So I don't know if I'm missing something. I have a power line running to the starter, running to the alternator, and have the wires...
The VPC is used to convert your car from using the AFM to using a MAP based system. So basically, the air is metered from the intake manifold, and not before the turbo. Benefits include being able to remove the restrictive AFM, purge your BOV to atmosphere and not have your vehicle crippled by...
