if your oil gauge is not working , there are three things I can think of that could be wrong.
1 > Oil sender is bad.
2 > Oil sender is not gouunded properly. The grounding happens as it was directly connected to the block. Try running a ground wire from the sender to the block.

On what diagrams to use, that is a chaoice you have to make. There are people running 2jzge with the MkIII turbo harness, some use stand alone ecus and some use the GE electronics.

I agree, I never found it hard to chamge filters on the 1jz or 2jz in the MKIII.
Its way easier than a 7mgte filter change for sure and you can get to it from the top.
Ofcourse if it is hard for you, then you do whats best. You may consider adding an oil cooler in the mix if you relocate.
The problem is , they havn't really pushed their product towards the MKIII which is why we don't see much of them in use. maybe they can start with that and also start pushing it to more vendors and performance shops to carry their line.
yeah I found a copper wahser on the GE pump as well, not a o-ring as it says. The TSRM I was looking at ( link provided) does not show a GTE, but I'll throw in a washer anyways for sure as its supposed to have one.
