I have been searching for some 4 inch piping for the resonator.
I'd like to make it so it'll telescope so I can adjust the length, but to do that I need some piping that is slightly larger than 4 inch.
Does anyone know if and where I can get 4+ inch piping that will slide over the 4 inch...
Going to do the branch resonator next week.
The nature of the branch resonator means that it'll only work in a rather narrow frequency band but I was wondering if using a curved pipe would widen the frequency band where the branch resonator works?
The rational being that using a curved...
Yes is is astonishingly quiet in the video, but I have noticed that people in the street are now turning their heads to see what is comming...
It is around 2000 rpm (starts around 1700 and ends around 2300 rpm).
And yes the drone isn't at all apparant in the video, but it is very clear...
ok.
I recorded a video of the exhaust here. Somehow the sound doesn't go through very well. It is not really possible to hear the drone. As you can hear the exhaust it self is very quiet.

Did you have to removed the dust shields?
These brakes are interesting for european Supra owners since they can be had with a german TÜV approval so the cars can be registered with these brakes. Only problem with the TÜV is that the brakes are very expensive (8.000 USD for a...
It just needs to be a piece of tube in the same diameter as the rest of the exhaust. It needs to be capped in the end and it should not be an absorptive resonator since you would want as much echo transmitted back to the exhaust as possible. It doesn't have to be straight so any curved shape...
I use this calculator here:

And I input 2000 rpm and 6 cylinders. The result is a standing wave at 5.5 feet.
If I use the speed of sound at 340 m/s the 5.5 feet wavelength will translate into a sound frequency of appr...
I don't think it is touching but I will check again. It is not bolted to the stock support bracket for the downpipe at the moment because we were out of 4 inch clamps. So the exaust is hanging in the turbo and in the rear mounts only.
There is of course a slight chance that movement from...
With stub pipe do you mean the entire branch or just a smaller diameter connection between the branch pipe and the main pipe?
Any downside to keeping it 4 inch all the way in the branch? I would like maximum dampening of the resonance.
Does the branch need to be a 90 degrees to the main...
As Poodles says drone and loud exhaust are two different things.
My 4 inch system is not loud at all.
But around 2000 rpm the entire car shakes. The dash is rattling and rear view mirror is shaking.
Around 3000 rpm and above all is fine and not loud.
So I need to remove this...
Ok, I'm trying to figure out the length of the pipe to use for a branch resonator.
I use this calculator to calculate the wave length:
http://www.autolounge.net/calculators/exhaust/exhaustresonance.html
I assume I need to input the number of cylinders. The 7mgte engine fires two...
