Toyota uses "select fit" bearings which means that obviously damn near everything is a bastard size...if useing an aftermarket bearing such as clev-77's then you generally need to polish the crank so all the pins and journals are the correct size, then alignhone the block back to spec, and...
Plastiguage and micing is not really needed in this case...either there is damage or not...in this case droping the pan and removing the bearing caps. Would be enough to find possible damage....he could do it himself but he already explained why he isn't.
I think yall misunderstand the post....I'm sure the damper and snout are fubar and I'm sure the mechanic knows this but I'm also sure the mechanic wants to pull the oil pan and have a look inside just to make sure the crank and bearings are ok! Sounds like a good and smart mechanic which is...
so dude goes on and says the forum is being monitored and will be used in court.....then he goes and says he will make it rain slugs from a 223.....hmmmmm...
dude makes $160 a day and says hes rich....well jesus i must be bill gates then...god damn why the fuck am i renting a room in north...
jdub and a few others use something very similar...and the way the pan is designed all said particles won't all come out even with the regular drain so I would stress about it...
Should have got the ati damper...it's a bit cheaper and has more cool factor LOL
Best of luck to you but the prices I gave you were if you did the work yourself...obviously it's now gonna cost you much more.
If the shift fork was fubar then it would effect more than just what you are saying I believe...I could be wrong but you mentioned your shifter is a liitle loose well maybe the bushings in the trans are shot which would make finding gears very hard in a stoped car...as we all know, while moveing...
Let's say the mount is shot "which I doubt"...this still "shouldn't" effect shifting as the shifter is bolted to the trans and not the car body...sounds to me like your syncros are going.
That's my guess...but the trans is supposed to be able to rock around a little. And why are you running...
Whatever you say!
I advise you check again...every supra trans can move up and down about an inch...you gotta push pretty hard but it will move....unless you have solid motor mounts then it will not move much.
Ps...the motor and trans are mounted on rubber...how would it not move...and...
