Why can't it be the TPS? What you're describing sounds exactly like the acceleration enrichments aren't properly being added (bad, or ms-adjusted TPS) Have you bothered checking teh TPS adjustment? Oh, and the MAP sensor mounts on the firewall behind the intake manifold.

Trust me, you won't. If you want to do a quick test, run some tones, and see if it gets noticably louder at a certain point. If it doesn't, it's likely flat enough to enjoy. However, with the area of that port, I have a feeling it's tuned quite high.

definitely a power problem. The startup current is causing the ports to go into protection mode and shut off. Normally, you SHOULD be able to power it atleast from two ports, but if you have a crappy motherboard and/or power supply, it won't. Use the powered hub. That should solve all your...

what's your fuel pressure? I'm gonig to go on a limb and maybe say cold start enrichments, but that's jsut a shot in the dark.

No, it's actually supposed to be a one way valve. IIRC, it allows the valve to hold pressure under the diaphragm when you let off, to open it faster.
