Thanks everyone! The engine will be back this week some time!
If I were to go through the process of getting another 2jz, I would make sure I see the engine run before I get it. Id rather spend the extra money that way. If you get a pickle like mine, it will cost alot
Well walked out to my car today to find it broken into. Ugh I cant catch a fucking break. They only took my head unit face plate but they busted the window. I have had a spare window forever so I just popped it in and everything is good to go.
Hey guys long time since my last update. Well the engine is at the machinist right now and it turns out that I can use stock sized pistons and Hg. So im putting in new oem pistons and HG. Im putting acl bearings in and replacing all the seals on the engine. I should have the engine back sometime...

If I can get away with a stock toyota HG ill go with it. Whats the max I can cut off the head/block...
Yes good engines are harder to come by now a days. Its really hit and miss. And thanks for the kind words, I figured that if I completely rebuild the engine to factory standards that I will have a nice reliable engine/
Little Update:
I found that the Exhaust camshaft was broke right after the third lobe.
I pulled the cam caps and I didnt see any signs of seizing or over heating. I did however find out that I had a leaky head gasket that could of explained the smoking I was getting.
So I pulled the head and...
im going with stock pistons, rings , oil pump, and head gasket. Ill be putting in new ferrera valve seals and ARP head studs. I will be running ACL bearings.
Does anyone know if toyota makes a different sized head gasket and pistons for the 2jz?
The tolerances on the new engine should still be checked on everything, its going to be a good 600-900 more just for the brand new short block so that is an option too. A set of pistons and rings from toyota is 560, vs 800+ just for the after market pistons. so they indeed cheaper.
