Again I'm not going to say the car isn't loud/obnoxius at wide open throttle with the dump tube off the wastegate - It is. But everyone I have talked to about the car (Friends/family/car enthusiasts) can't believe the car has no mufflers on it when they hear it idling or just cruising by. If...
And what about all the examples of race gas cars (SW, Woon, blah blah blah)? Plus the added benefit that you flow less fuel so you can use smaller less noisy fuel pumps for the same HP?
To each there own but in a race gas vs. ethanol battle - race fuel wins (although as i said E-85 is much...
I agree with this 100%... I think ethanol is pretty retarded. It is cheaper that race gas (by a lot), but that is largely due too stupid government subsidies for it.
I would stick with race fuel myself
That may be true on an N/A but the reason OEM's didn't use turbos back in the day was because turbos and carbs didn't get along very well. I owuld love to see how the A/F ratio can stay correct.
Even though I would never even think of doing it, I still hope it works out for you.
Jdub - Do you have good resource/webpage I can read that explains exactly how the AFM works on these cars? I have read a little bit about Karman Vortex AFM's but I still dont understand exactly how it works.
Also, isn't there an air temp sensor to provide a "gain" setting to the AFM's volume...
From what i understand (at least in the mk4 world), the GT4088R is considered to be a much better turbo then the 67. Its a 63mm turbo that has less lag yet can produce the power of the 67. I too thought the gt40 was a lag monster but upon more research it may be a better choice then the 67...
I love taking the car out to deserted areas to get sideways and make some smoke. The stock LSD is a huge pain in the ass though. One day it will work perfect and the next day it will have a hard time locking both tires up...
Since I'm not a "drifter" I'm having a hard time deciding what diff...
So were you seeing more boost then desired? If the boost spikes it is obvious that the car will eventually fuel cut. more PSI = more flow. I am assuming everyone is talking about a car that holds the desired boost pressure but still fuel cuts. if it holds a desired level of boost, the...
An open wastegate does not have the same effect as a boost leak...not even close. If you are still measuring MAP at 9 psi, the wastegate is functioning properly if it is shimmed, or if you EBC is set to 9 psi.
Fuel cut is based on air flow into the engine, which for a given turbo, and RPM...
Pernilongo - The DB level in the car is fine (it is loud at certain rpms that it resonates at) but it is easy to find a gear to cruise in that it doesn't make much noise (it seems right around 2k rpms it can get pretty loud under load). On the highway you can tell it has an exhaust system but I...
Made a video to show people what the BIC DDP sounds like with a straight pipe on a relatively stock car. The beginning is a lot of part throttle stuff since I figured people might like that to help decide if this is the right DP for them. You always see a lot of questions about the DDP so i...
I agree with you. But if I was building a road race car and was not going to put on a special controllable ABS system, I would get rid of it just for a more consistent pedal feel. On a street car that gets driven aggressively and taken to HPDE's it is an invaluable tool. And yes the MK3/4...
the mk3 has very good abs...I would only take the abs off if it was a road race only car.
even if it is engine swapped (1j/2j) that shouldnt make a difference to the abs system...
